So what is it going to be?
"...an executive for the owners tells Eugene Weekly to expect news on the building by January. “We’re working on something that will have positive re-use of that property,” says Jon F. Hanson, chairman of New Jersey-based Hampshire Real Estate Companies. He won’t elaborate much."

Oh, I was hoping they were talking about Hynix. I didn't even know RC shut down.

Royal Caribbean call center in North Springfield, visible off I5. Shut down 5 years ago. For the lazy.

It has good facilities for a homeless shelter l. I know you said this mostly in jest, but it really would given the lay out, facilities, and location.

It was already a homeless shelter for a minute. There was a homeless camp adjacent to the building. One of the homeless dudes stripped metal off the generators in the back, which shut down the electronic locks. Once the doors opened, the homeless camp moved into the Royal Caribbean building. Now they have everything pyloned off and 24/7 security.

A small, yet glaring example of our housing/property market is the way it is and why so many parts of this town look like abandoned POS (including the text book “broken window syndrome” results):
“Then, in 2008, the developer sold the building — with its binding lease — to Hampshire.
Hampshire remains the owner, although it has tried to sell it. Royal Caribbean continues to pay the rent, says Hanson. Royal Caribbean is locked into the lease until 2026 and the rent now likely exceeds an eye-watering $4 million a year, court records indicate. So keeping it empty hasn’t hurt Hampshire.”

I think you are getting hung up on the wrong thing (and again not even understanding what I just said), but hey.

Springfield needs to use eminent domain to seize the building due to RCCL failing to keep their part of the tax agreement.
