Where are we going to yell? Something to do

I really just wanna scream into the universe and not look too crazy. Know a good spot? Help a mentally ill homie out.

Downtown seems to be a popular place…

u/jakeuwouldnot Nov 25 '24

was down there today. the deep baritoned & guttural screams bouncing off building corners in a chaotic manner was nostalgic. lived down there for a long ling time. i forgot the persistence of the cries, echoing about like the twilight bark, (only a call for missing meth).

34

u/ElginLumpkin Nov 25 '24

That was unexpectedly deep. I like that.

u/tyvanius Nov 26 '24

A lot like some of the potholes just outside of downtown. I don't like those.

The spotted hawk swoops by and accuses me, he complains of my gab and my loitering.

I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable,
I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.

The last scud of day holds back for me,
It flings my likeness after the rest and true as any on the shadow’d wilds,

It coaxes me to the vapor and the dusk.

I depart as air, I shake my white locks at the runaway sun,
I effuse my flesh in eddies, and drift it in lacy jags.

I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love,
If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.

You will hardly know who I am or what I mean,
But I shall be good health to you nevertheless,
And filter and fibre your blood.

Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged,
Missing me one place search another,
I stop somewhere waiting for you.

Incredible

Classic whitman... yell in the whit...man....

5

u/ThereMightBeDinos Nov 26 '24

Yeah, I was gonna suggest Keasey Square. Seems appropriate

1

u/Lord_Chadagon Nov 27 '24

A few years ago I actually did that one night... thank god my life has improved exponentially since then.

u/iggy_sheik Nov 27 '24

😂😂😂😂😂😂

u/OkInevitable5020 Nov 26 '24

My first thought too. lol

98

u/TyronePants Nov 25 '24

I bet yelling at a passing train would be hard to notice above the noise.

50

u/TyronePants Nov 25 '24

The first rule of scream club is "aaaaaahhhhhh!". The second rule of scream club is let's meet up at the train tracks.

4

u/karillia Nov 26 '24

There is a football game

61

u/Brawnd-isim-o Nov 25 '24

Downtown bus depot seems to be popular for this sort of sport👍

5

u/HankScorpio82 Nov 26 '24

My brain went to the old greyhound stop with those low ceilings.

49

u/iNardoman Nov 25 '24

Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza.

7

u/O_O--ohboy Nov 26 '24

LMFAO this is the most underrated comment. Take my upvote.

34

u/NWTrailJunkie Nov 25 '24

Lately, just about everywhere I go in Eugene there's someone yelling.

-4

u/FishermanUnited3178 Nov 26 '24

Welcome to the tRump Era…

4

u/IcyDesk5580 Nov 26 '24

Stfu😂 why bring politics into it? Eugene has been the same before Trump even

27

u/WifeofBath1984 Nov 25 '24

I was gonna say the woods outside of Oakridge but everyone else is saying downtown and that's much more convenient.

21

u/Tough-Smoke-9569 Nov 25 '24

Parking garage downtown

8

u/Excellent-Ad-829 Nov 25 '24

Always a classic to rage scream ! Highly recommend

7

u/BatSniper Nov 25 '24

Yeah I’ve been there. Felt surprisingly good. Probably scared the other patrons.

18

u/shewholaughslasts Nov 25 '24

I always do my best and loudest yelling in my car....

7

u/MelzBelz13 Nov 26 '24

Same. Roll up the windows and crank up the volume on the car stereo.

4

u/shewholaughslasts Nov 26 '24

Double bonus for NIN...

4

u/FishermanUnited3178 Nov 26 '24

Don’t forget Pantera. Walk

3

u/Mycologymommy Nov 26 '24

This is typically my go to - metal music up loud.

16

u/loracarol Nov 26 '24

You up for driving out to the coast? I like to go to North Jetty and go out as far as I can on the rocks. I've yelled so many things off there. Do be careful of the weather, though!

4

u/Proud_Cauliflower400 Nov 26 '24

You're my kind of people's.

11

u/Mantis_Toboggan--MD Nov 25 '24

Maybe skinners butte, it's not too populated this time of year most times of the day. Possibly down along the river somewhere too, that new section on the south bank by the eweb building would be great for screaming out over the river and there's a pavilion so you can get the high ground on that damn river. (I like screaming at high up places or at the river)

11

u/dc3p0 Nov 25 '24

The show Mr. robot taught me to yell underwater in a pool.

8

u/Illustrious-Dog-6236 Nov 25 '24

I’m feel like doing the same thing right now

8

u/lobster_claus Nov 26 '24

I miss the 2020 afternoon howl. That's the only thing I miss about it.

10

u/CoachBrooks Nov 26 '24

15 years ago, I had an 70 year old buddy (named Jim, he’s since passed on). Jim was a distinguished, classy older dude. On one occasion it was sunny outside - he looked at me and declared “this would be a great day to head to the park and yell at people”

8

u/QueerWiener420 Nov 25 '24

If you carry a guitar you can do it anywhere and call it folk punk 👍 you don't even have to play it, just drum on the body a bit.

9

u/HankScorpio82 Nov 26 '24

I want to scream at every person that adds folk to a music genre. It’s not folk music just because you suck.

5

u/QueerWiener420 Nov 26 '24

Careful, we'll just think you're joing in

6

u/No_Frenz_Fred Nov 26 '24

If you're old enough, you could try yelling at clouds.

7

u/Dodge-n Nov 26 '24

Jump in your car, this time of year I suggest a hoodie or jacket, drive to your nearest coffee place (I prefer Dutch) get a coffee and then jump on a rural road that’s not gonna be too busy (road rage doesn’t help), get some speed, roll the windows down, crank your favorite angry music and LET IT GOOOOOO.

You’ll thank me later.

5

u/WolfeTone78 Nov 25 '24

Feel like doing that where I live this afternoon with all the leaf blowing militia out in force

-1

u/ONE-EYE-OPTIC Nov 25 '24

Home and business owners trying to clean up after the storm and before leaf pick up? People just trying to do their jobs?

5

u/wubb7 Nov 25 '24

On any sort of public transportation would be great

4

u/thearteater69 Nov 25 '24

Any alleyway between Pearl & High Street will do the trick!

4

u/kryodusk Nov 25 '24

I was just on the phone trying to sort out health insurance so I just screamed into my ceiling.

5

u/tylerprice2569 Nov 25 '24

Anywhere in Eugene… if you’re expecting another answer maybe you haven’t spent 10 minutes here lol

4

u/Illustrious-Art-1817 Nov 26 '24

Have you been to Eugene? People scream in the street all the time. You'll fit right in!

3

u/ooh_la-la Nov 26 '24

The fairgrounds at 1am seem to be a popular place

3

u/soljwf98 Nov 26 '24

Downtown is fine. I’ve definitely done it. You’ll look crazy but not out of the norm!

3

u/earwaxdaddy Nov 26 '24

Personally I prefer the river. It's roaring lately and is asking for more 🦁

3

u/Pleasebenicetome3 Nov 26 '24

If you can go to the coast, go scream at the ocean. It's loud and mostly no one can hear you if you're far away from others. It's liberating

2

u/Fantastic_Baseball45 Nov 25 '24

Into the void. We are incessantly yelling into the void. lmk if/when there is a pop-up primal rage scream gathering. 😱

2

u/mindinthepsandqs Nov 25 '24

Boat dock before junction city.

2

u/Complex_Performer_63 Nov 26 '24

Knickerbocker bridge

2

u/Regular_Two_6358 Nov 26 '24

I like fall creek for this to be honest…

2

u/booitsE Nov 26 '24

Yell in your pillow like a normal person 🙄

2

u/Budkid Nov 26 '24

This was asked a couple months ago.

Heard one by the Eugene Station a couple months back, pretty good spot ngl

2

u/Crafty_Effective_995 Nov 26 '24

Under any bridge.

2

u/Organic_JP Nov 26 '24

Yeah i usually just go downtown and do it with a beer in my hand. Don't be scared let loose

2

u/peterodactyl Nov 26 '24

A hardcore show

2

u/Excellent_Culture_97 Nov 26 '24

I think a good scream at the top of Spencer’s butte would be therapeutic

2

u/clowdjumper Nov 26 '24

Go get lost on the Ridgline trails. Easy to get turned around. BONUS: beautiful scenery and nobody around to hear you scream at the universe.

2

u/saabstory14 Nov 26 '24

Inside cars make good places imo.

2

u/Thank_You_Aziz Nov 26 '24

Top of Spencer’s Butte in the evening.

2

u/Logical_Ad_5431 Nov 26 '24

Saw (and heard!) someone last week in front of M.Jacobs Fine Furniture on Olive St. exercising their lungs in a refreshingly loud and uninhibited manner. Kind of like what you're describing here. So that seems like a good place.

2

u/Mfntrev Nov 26 '24

In our cars with the windows up

2

u/Limp_Discipline1344 Nov 26 '24

Parking garage at 1am on a Sunday night. The absence of cars allows the void to scream back. Would also highly recommend doing it while you reline a Honda at the same time. (Not a joke. It’s awesome)

2

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '24

When it's cloudy, anywhere if you are an old man.

2

u/Severe_Low3587 Nov 26 '24

Into a pillow

2

u/Consistent-Scratch89 Nov 26 '24

Go into a bar or restaurant and get in their walk-in.

2

u/HeyPachuco86 Nov 26 '24

Inside the Papas Pizza bathroom was a novel one. Frog’s death has resonated amongst the natives indeed

1

u/Potato_Donkey_1 Nov 27 '24

Into a pillow indoors works for me. Otherwise, a deserted stretch on the coast when the surf and wind are up.

1

u/Dry-Sir-919 Nov 27 '24

If you have a car thats always a good place. Find a nice quiet place to park turn some music on and scream away. Or, into a big bowl of water. Those are 2 of my favorite places to let it rip. I hope this helps.

2

u/Scornlover2022 Nov 27 '24

I prefer Flogsta, Sweden. You can scream to your hearts content in the dark of the night and nobody will ever judge you.

0

u/MyNameIsBarktooth Nov 26 '24

Get an Aztec death whistle and scare the crap out of someone by the river at night

-2

u/washington_jefferson Nov 26 '24 edited Nov 26 '24

How about just moving on? Not much in life is unexpected. You've got to learn to accept things as they are dealt. Stop yelling, I'd say. The election, for example. Nobody here is happy about the result, but you have to move on.

-3

u/danielediabla Nov 26 '24

I’m quite happy about it!
