RIP to a Legend Moving

Post image

I keep going back and forth between extreme sadness and a slight chuckle. This obituary is filled with all of the corny humor we knew and loved Frog for. Eugene lost part of its heart.

I marked this as “moving”. I realized it probably has to do with relocation and not how moved my emotions are. Mods, take down if not allowed.

It’s cool to see him in the news so much. He would be proud. Or maybe he’d just shrug it off. He wasn’t super sick or anything in the spring. Seemed like a normal market year. Frog was one of the first people I met at market. He was also in my booth every morning before I got there chillin on the bench. I never made him leave. We’d chat about Florida or our future travel plans.

Market mornings aren't going to be the same.

He actually was pretty sick. He fell off his bike and hurt himself (maybe broke a hip?) and got COVID/ sick in the hospital. He was definitely fighting off illness for most of this year :(

Thanks for this! Parts of the article were unreadable in OPs post.

To such news like this only gives me one response, fuck. this. decade. We had too many legends fall this very decade and now Eugene has fallen victim. I repeat, fuck. this. decade.

In another lifetime I worked on UO campus and would hear him ask “do you want to buy the funniest joke book the word has ever known?” On an almost daily basis.

Definitely the End of an Era.

I have two of his books. I don’t really find them funny but I haven’t seemed to be able to part with them.

RIP Frog. You’re hoppin in heaven now 🐸🪽

I went to U of O from 89-93, and returned to campus earlier this year in the Spring - and there was Frog selling joke books in front of the U of O bookstore as if three decades hadn’t passed! I was thrilled, as I was reeling from all of the changes to 13th. It was nice to see that some things keep going. I bought $20 worth of books, and had him sign them for some college friends. Now he’s gone too. Life doesn’t stop spinning forward.

I have “the Regurgitater” joke book from 1990. It also has a hilarious dedication to 9 year old me:)
