They also had him listed as 2 years old, the vet thinks he’s closer to 10months

I dunno my guess was Boston mixed with border terrier. His course hair doesn’t scream poodle lol. My parents have border terriers and this guy actually looks exactly how a spawn of my dog and their dog would look haha

If you’ve been on this subreddit a while a lot of poodle crosses have wirey fur

It's really common for poodle mixes to get misidentified as terriers because of how dog coat genetics function. There are actually three separate genes responsible for a poodle's distinctive coat: furnishings(wiry hair), long coat, and curl.
Furnishings/wiry coats are a dominant gene that is the source of the wiry bearded coat seen in terriers, shih Tzus, wirehaired dachshunds, poodles, Irish wolfhounds, Maltese ECT. Only one parent needs to pass this on to result in furnished/wiry coated puppies.
Long coats are recessive to short coats so if you mix a long coated breed (like a poodle) with a short coated breed (Boston terrier) you'll end up with short coated puppies that carry the long coat gene but can't express it.
Curl is an incomplete dominant meaning one copy can result in a wave and two is a tighter curl. Although this is only visible on dogs with longer coats. Since OPs dog is short coated that curl/wave is hidden.
This example is for common poodle mixes but the lab poodle combo would be the same for OPs dog because both labs and Bostons have short straight coats.

I thought he’d a chihuahua poodle like my guy but apparently the deadpan stare is a poodle trait.
