Because Disney (much like every media conglomerate out there) is filled with people bereft of any standards. They don’t know their actual audience.

Something had to change; every project for the last several years has been $100M-$250M or more, and almost all lost money. Even Disney can't afford to keep taking losses like that.

Optimistic outlook, but the real reason is they were going to lose their ass at the box office if they kept it in the story. They learned over the last few years that you have to be subtle about it

Sounds great and I hope it is a continuation of the trend we have seen recently. My more realistic thought is they haven’t changed at all and are just following what will be most profitable.
