How about we start celebrating and elevating academic success from American children? For years, we denied smart, successful white and Asian kids a spot in college solely because of their skin color and the people we replaced them with clearly aren't up to the task.

These "foreigner first" policies promoted by Musk and Ramaswamy will lead to the death of our culture and, eventually, the death of America.

Agree, but take PHd's in chemistry or electrical engineering. One statistic I read is that there are only a couple of thousand a year that graduate at the PHd level in these very hard science subjects. So if the stats I read are true, we really should consider keeping outside talented PHd immigrants more than keeping them away.

I agree but most companies are not importing top level scientists. They're importing people to fill positions that could be filled by an American because they know the foreigners will put up with a lot more crap and won't push for decent wages.

But yet H1B visas are being used by companies to fill run of the mill technician positions; not the PHd engineering positions

If you want to limit to just those with doctorate degrees— then we can talk

The easiest solution is to just make a lot of the h1bs go to highest salary instead of lottery. That engineer is worth 500k a year here instead of china? Sure do it. But no to your 90k associate project manager.

Why can’t we have something like carbon credits, but for immigrаnts?

American companies should be made to earn the privilege to procure work visas by bribing current illеgаls to sеlf-dеport. It could be ten self-dеportаtions = one visa credit.

The companies would need to hire bail bondsmen or debt collection firms to round up anyone who tries to return to the United States after taking a bribe within a set timeframe, such as 15 years. Otherwise, the work visas get revoked.

As someone who works and hires in tech, it's already incredibly difficult to find American to fill roles. There just isn't enough supply. Artificially constraining our labor force even further will just drive companies out of business or force them to offshore.

Make legal immigration easier for people who want to come here and become Americans.

BS, tech layoffs have been the highest this year since the .com bubble burst. There is plenty of talent, just no one willing to pay for it. So the globalist want to import from foreign diploma mills.

Just telling you my experience in this industry for many years. There's a supply side issue for "native" US tech workers. Maybe they're not willing to take lower salaries, or relocate from traditional tech hubs?

I do think the degree requirement should be dropped more widely, which should help.

Maybe they’re not willing to take lower salaries

I think I see the problem. Increasing legal immigration in order to drive down market salaries sounds like precisely the scenario we want to prevent.

I work at a place which only hires PhDs and I somewhat agree on the degree requirement being an issue there, but how many skilled tech professionals can’t meet the minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree? Maybe we are talking apples and oranges here.

Increase the offered salary by 30-50% and see if that makes a difference.

The national debt is really big, and we can’t afford to dеport 20 million people, but big tech companies have enough money to pay illеgals to self-dеport.

Some tech companies, like Microsoft and Google, have embraced carbon credits as a free market solution… https://carboncredits.com/microsoft-strikes-2-record-breaking-carbon-credit-deals/ & https://carboncredits.com/google-to-buy-50000-mts-of-nature-based-carbon-credits-from-brazil-startup-mombak/

We should do the same for immigration.

The real answer is to scrap our broken system. We should better identify and recruit the world’s most talented people. But when we find them, we should bring them here with all the same rights we give to Americans.

This is one of the best comments on immigration that I've read. I hope the Trump administration considers it.
