Chuma, Bryce, Jared, Austin, Isaac, Jabari, Walker, Zep, Jaylin, Sharife, Wendell. These guys all mean so much to me. That Bruce recruited all of these amazing people into the Auburn Family is a testament in itself, even setting aside all of his and their basketball accomplishments.

Bruce Pearl is a great coach, but he's also a great person. Pearl has done so much for the Auburn community. From raising millions of dollars for cancer research to participating in dozens of local fundraisers, Bruce Pearl has been there. He was there when a tornado killed 23 people in Beauregard and he was there for fans like Sam Cunningham that battled leukemia as a child and is currently an assistant on the team

The Auburn Community is lucky to have you, Bruce

I know this sounds made up but it’s 100% true. My brother was nursing student who saw someone start having a seizure walking on the sidewalk. He pulled over and went to help. BP got to the kid about the same time, called 911, helped my brother position his head, and got his phone out so someone could try to contact family members. Once they were just waiting on the ambulance, BP says, “ok, looks like you’ve got this handled. I’m gonna go if that’s okay.” Gets in his car and goes about his day (my brother had a passenger and others started coming up—so he didn’t leave him alone). No praise. No glory. No story in the news or on ESPN. Just a guy who did the kind/right thing trying to help someone he didn’t know.

My fanbase emphatically disagrees. :)

Good thing nobody else cares about your fanbase or your weird little 35 yr old grudge. Your anger was misplaced to begin with, y'all should've been mad at Lou Henson for cheating. Pearl was always just a scapegoat so that y'all could keep your head in the sand in regards to y'all's own corruption.

I laughed. What's funny is I actually think Pearl's a good coach, I don't personally have anything against him. Hurt some Auburn feefees though.

You'd think if Henson was cheating like they said they would've gotten him for something other than a pizza, and Pearl wouldn't have needed to shamelessly edit a tape of a recruit to make the case. But alas.

You - “I don’t personally have anything against him.”

Then, prey tell, why are you commenting negatively, on a comment praising him, in a post that is celebrating his 214th win, at a college that has no attachment to yours?

“Shamelessly edit” Every time we go all the way down this rabbit hole of what actually happened, the Illinois fan inevitably gets proven wrong and either blocks everybody or deletes their account

It's hard to put into words what Bruce and Auburn basketball have meant to Auburn fans ever since he got here. He brought hope to a program that was dead in the water. Heck, I rooted for UK (gross) because Auburn was so bad and it was useless to root for them in basketball.

Now, while Auburn basketball has been good, football has sucked, so it's so nice to have a bright spot in Auburn athletics to look forward to when our football team inevitably disappoints us (sorry Tiger bros, I don't pay much attention to baseball or other sports, I know we have been decent to pretty good in a lot of those).

I briefly met Bruce at the Iron Bowl in 2023. I was going to meet my friends and he was just standing in the middle of the street with his kid smiling and talking to anyone that wanted to talk to him. I just said a quick hi and didn’t want to bother him but you could tell from everyone around how much he means to Auburn.

I date all Auburn stuff BBP and ABP. We are now in 11 ABP.

“Before bruce pearl = BBP, after bruce pearl = ABP” I would assume

u/toomers2010 12h ago

The 11 was throwing me off in context to the statement. I get it now though, lol. I was just a little slow on that one. He's saying we are in the 11th year of having BP as a coach. That's a big ol "derp, derp"..... on me. WDE!

Surprised they didn't have Calipari in this, do they not get along?

I'm pretty sure they don't, dating back to their time at Memphis and Tennessee, respectively.

Calipari does not like how Bruce and his players can't keep their pants on. https://x.com/jmpriegger/status/1485775099047337988

Bruce Pearl is one of the best guys around and he deserves every good thing that ever happens to him. 4 years ago he led his guys in prayer for Keyontae Johnson after KJ’s cardiac arrest and I appreciate him for that. May he forever lay waste to every team in the SEC (with only one exception).

u/swamppuppy7043 Florida Gators 10h ago

Their reaction and message of support for Micah after the sec tournament last year was also very nice. A little surprised Todd wasn’t in the video as a former assistant.

12

u/Temanaras Auburn Tigers 12h ago

Don't get me wrong. I am happy he's building a team and happy we are winning. But THIS is the kind of stuff I am most happy our coach is known for. Being a good human, caring about others, and aiming to make these kids the best versions of themselves.

Many years ago in my previous life I was running the control board for a basketball centric radio show, and Bruce was a phone guest. This was back in his UW-Milwaukee days, when he was the hot name in mid-major hoops. The show happened to be on Valentine’s Day, so it turned out that he was on the phone with us while he was stopping at a gas station after practice to buy a bouquet of flowers and Diet Coke for his wife. Through all his ups and downs, watching the roller coaster ride from afar, I still think of that image of a young Bruce Pearl, up and coming coach, grabbing flowers and pop for his bride on the way home from work, and it makes me smile every time.

u/Alh12984 Auburn Tigers 7h ago

That’s a really uniquely, cool story.

I knew I shouldn't have watched this video in such a dusty room 😭
