Why isn't grass put in place with the surface tool affected by snow? Discussion

Why aren't roads or tracks affected by snow also? 🤷♂️

That's a feature! Your road cleaning ppl are just very motivated at removing snow and work with hyperspeed when it's snowing to make sure no one will have issues with ice on road

"Why doesn't the snow pile perfectly when the snow gets plowed? These devs suck!"

I use a weather mod to keep temperature above freezing so I never see snow. It’s just too ugly.

I play on maps that don't get snow. I can't remember if they're modded in or part of the base game, but I sometimes forget snow is even a thing until I see pictures like this here.

Holy shit this looks bad, even if you don't count the green park. Why even bother to include snowy weather in your game if this is the result?

Probably the worst implementation of seasons I’ve ever seen. They could’ve at least made grass turn brown along with the trees before just fading to pure white snow.

Am I the only one that actually gets snow blindness from artificial snow xD. It's impossible to play when you cannot see anything its so white

Because the game was rushed and some weird design decisions were made and so far not fixed

To be fair, that's not something Colossal Devs should be fixing blamed for. Maybe it's not possible for the modder to fix it though, I don't know.
But yeah, overall winter still doesn't feel complete. Too many things that miss snow during the winter, that are vanilla. It looks awful. Like many, I don't play with winter. And mostly because it just feels incomplete. I want to see vehicles plowing the snow on the roads, I want to see the snow reduced/removed. I don't want random parts just completely missing snow.
My speculations are, this won't get fixed until bug fixes, optimizations and reworks have come to a stop. Those are obviously a priority, and I'll assume we'll be beginning to see some polishing after everything major is done. (And I feel like we're getting close, the game has improved a lot since release, and I feel like the game will be in a very acceptable, maybe a good state in a year or so. If the game was released in this state it is in now, I don't think there would be many complaints at all.)

They charge 60$, they releases new DLCs, and this is what you get. A total joke.
I tried the game for free the other day, while looking at eye level, I could see the ocean instead of the ground. My city was in the middle of the ocean.

Personally I'm really enjoying the game so far. The region packs are great. I just hope they release custom modding soon.

yeah the game definitely didn't live up to the hype, but I do find myself playing 2 more than 1 at this point. It's very pretty and much more optimized now than it was at launch, and the mods at this point are good enough that many of the annoying things don't affect my overall experience.

I just want my international airport to actually send out cargo. Has been storing it but not shipping it out

Just out of curiosity, do the surface areas that modders added to the game get snow on them?
I don't have a pc at the moment so I can't test it currently. I'm just wondering if this was programmed at all in the game or if modders have found a way to incorporate it.

This is why I’m super reluctant with using grass surfaces, I’ll even delete the grass surfaces from lots. Which stinks, because sometimes they make such a great visual difference.

I feel like snow is such a novelty. What percentage of the player base actually enjoy it?
Inb4 the only 5 people who enjoy it reply to this.

and why are all driving cars covered in snow as well. Parked cars ok but driving ?

There's custom grass surfaces that are semitransparent, so they work with snow properly if that's something you want.
Personally I use better bulldozer to auto remove it, and add it back where it makes sense.

Some modded surfaces interact properly with snow, you can use those or wait until they fix this. They've ironed out alot of the mechanical gripes, so I think that one will get fixed sooner rather than later. That being said, keep complaining about it and the developers will probably increase the priority

Because it’s the grass of back years which also don’t get snow. Not the terrain grass which actually should get snow. My terrain doesn’t. It snows but nothing sticks. Not sure why.

They need to redo this whole snow layer thing because it looks extremely weird compared how CS1 Snowfall or other games like Manor Lords, Farthest Frontier and many other games are doing snow.
I also get some very bizarre sparkling trees and lots of visual noise when it snows and day/night cycle is enabled.
