I got yelled at over email by one of my professors for using the word "amongst" in an assignment. He said it was "an archaic word whose common usage died out decades ago"

Nah, imma keep the older form of the word without added letters that serve no purpose. I'm also going to keep whence and whilst out of my everyday vocabulary thank you.
I actually just get tripped up speaking normally so adding any extra consonant clusters is just asking for chaos, if you prefer it be my guest though.
