Transmission Stop Leak on input shaft seal? Transmission

My 98 Volvo S70 has a cracked seal where the driveshaft enters the transmission. $10 part ($250 cheapest quote from a shop) so would replace myself but can't have the car off the road that long.

Only need it for a few months or ideally until I can get it to a shop. I know stop leak is horrendous long term but just wondering how much damage it'd cause / if its worth it? Currently going through close to a quart a week of general use.

There is also a definite smell, almost like burning rubber which I assume is the seal?

Thanks!
