Took mine across country from Connecticut to California and back. It’s pretty darn scary when you get caught between those tractor trailers on the interstate but she did just fine.
Laugh all you want but in 1996 after graduating from university, I bought a brand spanking new bright green Metro and drove across country from Connecticut to California covering about 42 states. It was an awesome little car and got excellent gas mileage. I think it got better gas mileage than my Harley Sportster now and both has about the same horsepower. Never had a problem with it and miss it now.
I can confirm this is true. A friend of mine who has all the money in the world and multiple cars, trucks and motorcycles swears by his 90's Metro and it's the only thing he ever drives. I helped him rebuild it one time and I can actually say that I picked up an engine in one hand and a transmission in the other and carried them about 100ft by myself 🤣
My 1996 2 door geo metro hatch with the 1.0 3 cylinder manual transmission was quick! I could squeal the tires super easily going into first and 2nd gear and even get a noticeable squeal slamming it into 3rd gear. That car was really fun. I learned how to drive stick in it and bought it for $200 with a bad head gasket. Good times

“I can’t, it’s a Geo!!!”
