You make a good point. I think another way to look at it is that they choose to only consume narratives that do not make them uncomfortable. From time to time you must change your diet - of media in this case. Also, misery loves company and when you are pissed off it goes better with a “friend” and it’s always easier to blame others for challenges that you might face in life than to take some responsibility and try to make a positive change.
