Twelve Mesa County jurors found Tina Peters guilty of four felonies on Monday after a lengthy criminal trial, marking yet another conviction tied to post-2020 election conspiracy theories.

Peters faced a total of 10 criminal charges related to her role in helping a man gain unauthorized access to voting equipment during a secure software update in May 2021. The county’s voting machine’s passwords and copies of its hard drive were later posted online by people trying to undermine the validity of the election system.

The jury deliberated for around four and a half hours Monday afternoon before reaching their decision, which was read out to a packed courtroom just after 5 p.m.

I agree with the volunteer election judge who said that she should have been found guilty on all 10 charges, but we'll take the win.

Sentencing October 3

Give her 5 years in STATE prison. Have fun in the shithouse.

146

u/MissionReasonable327 Aug 13 '24

Hope she gets some real prison time!

89

u/Entire-Balance-4667 Aug 13 '24

I've seen four year mandatory minimum on the charges.

17

u/RupeWasHere Aug 13 '24

Over under on 5 years?

2

u/radgeek01 Aug 17 '24

I’ll bet 7 years lock up plus probation.

1

u/RupeWasHere Aug 17 '24

I’ll take that bet and raise you to 8 years.

10

u/MissionReasonable327 Aug 13 '24

Where did you see that? I heard she could possibly only get probation, but I hope you’re right! Happy cake day!

11

u/sensation_construct Aug 13 '24

If the judge said they felt like Peters should have been guilty on all 10, I doubt they're giving a slap on the wrist ...

5

u/n8ivco1 Aug 13 '24

An election judge, not the court's presiding judge.

2

u/sensation_construct Aug 13 '24

Oh I see. Thanks for clarifying!

1

u/n8ivco1 Aug 13 '24

No worries.

5

u/thats1evildude Aug 13 '24

The fact that she’s completely unrepentant will likely factor into her sentencing.

133

u/Comradepatrick Aug 13 '24

Guys! Guys! I found the election interference!!

32

u/Christ_on_a_Crakker Aug 13 '24

We finally got those democrats!

/s

59

u/GlobalTravelR Aug 13 '24

So she can't vote in the next election, right? And hopefully, Jail time.

9

u/sensation_construct Aug 13 '24

Unless you're incarcerated in CO, you can still vote. With sentencing in Oct, I really don't know if she'd be serving her sentence by Nov. 5th. Even money she votes for Trump and petitions for a pardon if he wins

46

u/RegattaJoe Aug 13 '24

Good. She’s a pustule on Colorado

Obligatory link to bodycam of Tina getting arrested for failing to hand over her iPad to investigators. Peak boomer entitlement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBaJX9h-HIQ

49

u/jhereg10 Aug 13 '24

She was convicted of obstruction of justice over that iPad in March 2023 looks like.

https://gazette.com/news/courts/tina-peters-convicted-of-obstruction-charge-related-to-ipad-recordings/article_8691d93e-ba2b-11ed-a254-8b7cc1bdf21c.amp.html

“Witnesses at Peters’ trial this week testified that she repeatedly told investigators that the iPad wasn’t hers and belonged to someone named Tammy Bailey, though her lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, said that the name was an alias used by Peters, possibly for security reasons, The Associated Press reported.”

And she lied to the police saying it wasn’t hers.

This is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

The absolute gall of this woman... She REALLY thought she was above the law.

Also though, how the hell did the cops in this video end up not charging her with obstruction/resisting arrest?!

They even confirmed at 6 minutes in that they planned to, because she WAS actually resisting arrest and even kicked at them as they were forced to drag her out of that restaurant. She tried to physically stop them from putting handcuffs on her, resisted walking, and screamed at them to let her go the whole time because they were "hurting" her (wonder how she feels about George Floyd's arrest - I'm sure she's got all the compassion in the world, right?). 🙄

Peters was found guilty of three counts of attempting to influence a public servant and one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation. She was also convicted of first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty and failure to comply with an order from the Secretary of State, all misdemeanors.

The jury acquitted Peters on three counts — criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and identity theft.

12

u/bufordt Aug 13 '24

If she was a black man acting like that she would have been slammed to the ground and choked out.

3

u/itsallgonnafade Aug 14 '24

Oh I think they’d choke slam a black woman too.

1

u/WeeklyJunket5227 Oct 08 '24

And do you notice, the "Back the Blue" MAGA crowd was perfectly okay with that.

2

u/thatwhatisnot Aug 13 '24

And her claiming they broke her wrist getting her friend to record it. Insufferable pos

16

u/TooTameToToast Aug 13 '24

What an insufferable twat. The entitlement of some people is so disgusting.

🎼Let it be...🎶

13

u/willynillywitty Aug 13 '24

A perfect soundtrack for your arrest and 4 felonies.

“When I find myself in times of trouble….”

8

u/zuma15 Aug 13 '24

She should have listened to Paul.

9

u/coosacat Aug 13 '24

Thank you. That was enjoyable. Delusional woman.

8

u/yoko_OH_NO Aug 13 '24

You know what's weird is I have definitely seen this arrest footage but I had no idea it was in connection to election interference. She is absolute garbage

10

u/Samurai_gaijin Aug 13 '24

Goddamn, all I can think of during that whole video is a quote from BLM, "we don't want you to treat them like you treat us, we want you to treat us like you treat them."

7

u/Coolbluegatoradeyumm Aug 13 '24

I appreciate you for posting this. I enjoyed the parts I watched

6

u/MiniTab Aug 13 '24

That was immensely satisfying! Thanks for posting that.

6

u/konkilo Aug 13 '24

I know dozens of boomers who applaud her being arrested

3

u/yooperville Aug 13 '24

Me, for one!

11

u/mc1964 Aug 13 '24

You can smell the entitlement through the screen.

3

u/Responsible-Person Aug 13 '24

I throughly enjoyed that footage. Thanks!

3

u/Daimakku1 Aug 13 '24

“Let go of me! I’m an old, white conservative woman, you can’t do this to me!”

3

u/untoldmillions Aug 14 '24

my favorite part: her telling the cop "...do you know what you're doing...your assisting Merrick Garland to not show the truth..."

32

u/Best_Biscuits Aug 13 '24

Awesome :)! Grab your popcorn for sentencing (10/3). I'll bet she gets >3 years. These are serious charges, she's not repentant, and the judge needs to send a message for people to not mess with elections.

17

u/BrewtalKittehh Aug 13 '24

Was this the nutter that was arrested on video? Maybe it was a different clerk, it’s hard to keep up.

12

u/Violuthier Aug 13 '24

Yes it is

5

u/TheoBoy007 Aug 13 '24

The he video is posted a bit above this one if you want to check it out. It’s very satisfying to watch.

37

u/jaguarthrone Aug 13 '24

Convicted of 4 felonies.....Am I correct in assuming that these are all State charges?

31

u/Violuthier Aug 13 '24

Yes, State charges.

24

u/RupeWasHere Aug 13 '24

Yep. No club Fed for her.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Also pretty sure a pardon from the president of the USA is off the table, it’d be up to the states governor.

2

u/Radiant_Map_9045 Aug 20 '24

Under normal circumstances It is. However Trump isn't exactly running for 'president'. Not in the traditional sense of the word anyway.

Fortunately she appears to be about 6 decades past her Republican usefulness so she'll stay put.

13

u/coosacat Aug 13 '24

Woohoo! This is one that I really wanted to see go down.

13

u/TwistedBlister Aug 13 '24

I hope the people planning on causing more election interference this year are paying attention.

4

u/What_if_I_fly Aug 13 '24

Exactly what I was thinking

2

u/Radiant_Map_9045 Aug 20 '24

Then you should also hope this woman gets 20yrs. Because if they're paying attention to her getting 30 days community service and 1yr probation, we're in deep shit.

11

u/MannyMoSTL Aug 13 '24

Another republican gleefully cheating “the system.”

12

u/outerworldLV Aug 13 '24

Excellent news.

12

u/FUMFVR Aug 13 '24

Breaking into voting machines is no fuck around shit. Put her in prison for the rest of her natural life.

10

u/northshorehiker Aug 13 '24

I love the smell of legal accountability in the morning...

At the very least, hopefully cases like this might make someone think twice about going along with this bullshit next time

10

u/Effective-Emphasis-4 Aug 13 '24

Weird, it's not on Fox or OANN.

6

u/GlobalTravelR Aug 13 '24

It's probably listed on those sites under Political Prisoner and Patriot unjustly convicted by VP Harris for trying to protect free and fair elections. /s

1

u/MammothFinish1417 Aug 16 '24

I’ve been playing the Foxnews game for years now. Example: AG Barr says no evidence of vote fraud. Top headline around the world, but doesn’t appear on Fox’s website, even using a keyword search.

Actually, that would make sense great subreddit.

9

u/cadelot Aug 13 '24

Woot! Woot!

6

u/willynillywitty Aug 13 '24 edited Aug 13 '24

Fuck you Tina.

Looks exactly like I guessed.

7

u/vulgarandmischevious Aug 13 '24

Serious question: why can’t they sentence immediately? Jury says “guilty”, judge says “here’s the sentence”?

4

u/aecolley Aug 13 '24

Because it's time to argue about aggravating and mitigating factors in deciding the sentence.

2

u/vulgarandmischevious Aug 13 '24

Other countries manage it. Civilized western democracies with rule of law. I’d argue that the judge heard the aggravating and mitigating factors during the trial and should make an immediate sentencing sl decision.

5

u/4wordSOUL Aug 13 '24

Lock her ass up.

4

u/Waterfallsofpity Aug 13 '24

Maybe she'll find some other racist 3%ers in prison to hang out with.

4

u/Daimakku1 Aug 13 '24

in Nelson’s voice HA-ha!

3

u/Chippopotanuse Aug 14 '24

Investigations by the 21st Judicial District in Mesa County as well as the Colorado Secretary of State’s office found that Peters began meeting with people concerned about election integrity in April of 2021

Weird how all of these “election integrity” types are all committing felony election fraud…

The only way we will ever have true election integrity is by tossing everyone like this traitor into the shithouse for some really stiff sentences.

3

u/grolaw Aug 13 '24

Mandatory closed unit on the psych ward - oops - we don’t do that any more. Not since Ronald Reagan cut the federal funding for mental health. Look what the savings gave us: Trump & his supporters.

4

u/whydoihavetojoin Aug 13 '24

Stop. I can only get so hard. Stop it.

8

u/iamwearingsockstoo Aug 13 '24

Ten years dungeon! Lemongrab that pussy! We're taking back that phrase and turning it into something positive. Consequences are tart for this tart.
