I don’t know man I was a child when Obama entered as president being a child of immigrants all I heard from them was how scared they were from being deported and then we had the recession happen in 2008 not so great.

15

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

Obama had the highest deportation numbers in history. Even beat Trump.

9

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

That’s what I’m saying but people keep ignoring the statistics.

9

u/SLSmail 1d ago

Same thing people have done with re-electing trump! Look at how many farmers still back him, even though his tariffs killed them the 1st time and they had to be bailed out by trump 🤷‍♀️

1

u/MyNameIsJakeBerenson 1d ago

It’s very important to be aware of and state your cognitive biases when you see them so you don’t wind up in the opposite side of the echo chamber

Like, when you see a blind spot that you didnt see before, it’s okay to clock it and be mindful of it

It’s real easy to get blind to stuff because of your own cognitive biases. That shit’s weird like that

0

u/69nailpounder 1d ago

Tariffs didn't do shit and you want to talk about bailouts? How about Obama bailing out big banks? Farmers work their asses off and banks are fuckoffs.

2

u/middleageslut 1d ago

The trump tariffs put a lot of farmers out of business bro. It isn’t even a question.

Yes, Obama cleaned up Bush Jr’s mess by bailing out wall street. I wish he had done it differently, but he kept America alive and put regulations in place that ensured it wouldn’t happen that way again.

Trump has vowed to end those regulations.

This isn’t hard, no one who loves this country votes Republican. Period.

0

u/69nailpounder 1d ago

Because biden did so well..... fuck off.

1

u/middleageslut 1d ago

Biden did really well. If you are too propagandized to be in touch of reality you should fuck off.

May you have the day you voted for. Retribution for Trumps enemies and tax breaks for the ultra wealthy, or prosperity for all.

2

u/Academic_Carrot_3808 23h ago

See how they won't call out what Dump had said, but they're bringing up Obama? Then, they had the nerve to say he was born to immigrants. Like, wtf! His mom was a white woman born in America. These racist pos never call out Trump for what he's done and said, but they love to call out other people. These are the same people that would let Trump touch their wives and daughters, then turn a blind eye to it. Nothing but a shit show. They're nothing but a bunch of nobodies to Trump. 🤣🤣

1

u/middleageslut 23h ago

They can’t handle the fact that Trump hates them too.

1

u/AverageJohn1212 19h ago

Tell them that. Starting to think these people can't hear and listen because they really are stupid.

It's a slight possibility people. It's okay to call a spade a spade.

u/Jolly_Green_Giant78 16h ago

Just like you allow Biden to sniff your daughter's hair and nibble on her toes while telling her that she looks like she's nineteen when she's nine. Cool story bro.

u/NoSleepZombie2235 19h ago

You seem kind of triggered. Perhaps you are in need of safe space for all your emotions?

1

u/AverageJohn1212 19h ago

Why the fuck don't comments like this get moderated? But people choose to swim in my profile history... Starting to feel like Reddit is high school level smfh.

0

u/waynebradie189472 20h ago

Uhh there aren't regulations in place to prevent 2008 again.

1

u/middleageslut 19h ago

You are technically right, but still very very wrong. There isn’t one regulation, there are two regulations and one government agency.

It is called the Dodd-Frank Wall-Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. It was signed into law in 2010 by President Obama.

Its guiding purpose is to prevent another 2008 style financial / housing crisis.

It is over seen by the CFPB, or Consumer Financial Protections Bureau. Which was ALSO created by the Obama administration specifically to over see Dodd-Frank act and to overhaul and provide teeth for:

RESPA or the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, which technically goes back to 1974, but was overhauled by - you guessed it - President Obama to protect Americans from unscrupulous actions of banks and lenders.

Donald Trump has vowed to destroy all 3, because, you know, he is an outsider, looking out for the little guy.

Next I suppose you are going to tell me that there is no federal program to insure your bank deposits either? That First Lady Donald has vowed to do away with so your bank account can be wiped out with a run on your bank 1929 style - which - with a totally unregulated financial industry isn’t guaranteed to happen?

This is why government and education matter, and why no one takes you people seriously.

1

u/waynebradie189472 19h ago

So bubbles burst all the time and we have a couple looming. Tech and over all debt would be the big ones. But sure, sub prime lending for homes is fixed. Wait till you read about the investment strategies of hedge funds that is totally not going to bite retirement in the face or anything.

Something, something educate yourself on the financial institution.

1

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 1d ago

Tariffs caused 400k job losses, all before Covid.

1

u/69nailpounder 1d ago

No they didn't

1

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 1d ago

Yes, they did. Open your eyes.

1

u/69nailpounder 1d ago

Post the proof or shut it.

1

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 1d ago

All around the net. Shut it yourself, enemy of reality.

At least they kept their farms unlike what Obama did.

China has been bullying our farmers for years. The world is Dependant on us not the other way around. And The increased subsidization onky needed to occur for 2 cycles.

1

u/AverageJohn1212 19h ago

No the world is not lmfao. Grow up.

1

u/Historical-Juice-314 1d ago

They’re blind to him and the other nonsense crap he pulled!! All along they just dogged on Trump for distractions yet these 🐑 are still in awe over his bs

1

u/LuckyRabbit1011 1d ago

He’s our God. Deal with it ahole

1

u/Historical-Juice-314 1d ago

How could you miss your god? He’s still there in the basement calling all the shots 🙄 he’s not left yet

1

u/Lizardking619 1d ago

Yeah I think this ideology democrats are pushing went too far and the American people had enough.Imo the last five or six years have been pretty chaotic around the world and at home.I am willing to reserve judgment for the next four years and who knows what if we are better off than when he started at the end of it.If he and his team fail they should be judged accordingly.

1

u/Due-Survey-4040 1d ago

Because they don’t fit the narrative. Clinton (Bill) was strong on border security and deportation as well. Most of his policies would be right-leaning in 2024…

1

u/DarkPolumbo 21h ago

The president's racial identity matters more than their performance to so many people. It's disgusting.

What happened to judging by content of their character, rather than the color of their skin?

I'll say this, if someone dared to post a banner that said "Anything but a black president", they'd be strung up by their gonads. But this thread is apparently OK because white man bad.

1

u/Snake_Doc16 19h ago

Careful, the Reddit hive mind will downvote anyone who thinks logically

2

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

People only want to hear what they want to hear and will never concede to things that go against their chosen leader.

If they can't admit the faults along with the accomplishments they are simply sycophants not supporters.

8

u/jamietmob1 1d ago

I don't know. I'm a huge Obama supporter, and I've never once tried to explain away his deportation record. The time to complain about it was while it was happening, not years afterwards. History is what history it's, so why try to explain it away. Own that shit! The good and the bad.

2

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

As a Righty I appreciate your candor and honesty leftybro.

1

u/Xintus-1765 1d ago

Your describing the Democrat party, perfectly...

1

u/Squeakypeach4 23h ago

You’re*

-3

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

It's really sad to proclaim to be an intellectual and also be so partisanly biased that simple factually reported events on every news channel go ignored.

Ex: Dems have been reeee'ing about Pete Hegseth being accused of alcoholism yet Kamaltoe Harris appeared drunk at every campaign and literally posted photos of her drinking wine with her family multiple times (including the AM with "nieces" pic) as well as did no less than 2 campaign cameos in which she drank beer (on Stephen Colbert and again with Gov Gretchen Wilson at a literal bartop).

They also ignored all of 1st Gentequeer Doug Emhoff's woman beating and nanny banging philandering (including a paid NDA abortion) yet screech about Trump non-stop.

At least ABC got smacked down with the $16 million defamation suit over it.

1

u/pogoli 1d ago

And what does the right expect of a person that agrees that something Obama did was bad? They declare that he shouldn’t have been president, should have been removed from office, jailed, blah blah…. while simultaneously refusing to acknowledge any of the positive things he did. It’s like why bother….

1

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

If the shoe fits...

But joking aside, in all fairness can you present some things you think the "right" would agree are good regardless of which POTUS did it? (In this case Obama)

0

u/ElderBHoldenCox 1d ago

Reddit: Reagan is the worst president in the history of the world, and Obama is the best.

Anyone who has read Obama’s books: Obama refers to himself as a Reagan Fanboy and describes his administration as “slightly to the right of Reagan.”

Reddit: downvote to oblivion and spam Reddit Cares

1

u/Late-Pie-146 20h ago

Do you have an excerpt that supports this claim?

1

u/Difficult_Tough_7015 1d ago

We didn't ignore shit. We spoke up. The articles are still probably online, for sure archives, but sure make shit up lol. We spoke and he listened. He apologized, admitted he went about it the wrong way.

Ever heard Trump do that?

Furthermore, Obama didn't run his shit sheared campaign on "dey took er jobs!" Like your idiot of an orange freak rapist did. He made a bad call. There's a difference.

Trying to compare trump to Obama is like trying to compare Jose to Jesus

2

u/Jazzlike-Travel-8851 1d ago

The furthest we need to go to compare who was better is the rapist thing. Trump is a rapist. Should be end of story. Anyone who isn’t a rapist or predator is a better person than him by default. No point in comparing anything else. If I did the shit trump did, my whole family would disown me. But half voted for him. Knowing who he was. The same people who were sickened by Ezra millers crimes and others but fine with a dude who has done 100x worse shit being elected as president. I for real feel like I’m in the twilight zone. Like I’m missing something about Trump. Something fundamental. When I try to genuinely engage with these people to learn why they are on his dick so hard I get no answers. I don’t think some of them even know why they like him. They site policies sometimes but the facts show that everything he’s done has made things worse. What am I missing? When was this time that was so great we wanna go back to? Why do people think prices will lower when companies are already raising prices? Why don’t people care about the crimes he has committed? Why did it take after the election for people to research tariffs? I’m so lost as to why people love him and every time I try to talk to these people and see what I’m missing, I just get irrationality or gas lighting. I have yet to be convinced he’s a good guy and the fact he’s a rapist(and possibly more), I sure I never will. There’s no world where you could convince me that a rapist should be president of this country. But here we are and we are all going to find out.

1

u/Difficult_Tough_7015 1d ago

It literally is wild man I know.

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

What are we making up? Just look it up on google. Articles will come up.

0

u/Difficult_Tough_7015 1d ago

You're making up that "we ignore statistics." I said "we didn't ignore it. We spoke up. He listened."

You're the one that needs to look articles up. While you're at it take a reading comp class.

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

Quite honestly no. Look in my history. I have said this before and the reactions are not so great.

1

u/Difficult_Tough_7015 1d ago

That's fine, but don't say "we" ignored it. We didn't.

-2

u/Xintus-1765 1d ago

Because most people would never check anything for themselves, they would just repeat like parrots, whatever their friends or fake news like CNN would say...

2

u/Competitive_Sail_844 1d ago

Ha, but if Kamala said it out loud she would have lost some voters and got some voters.

1

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

She couldn't articulate that complete of a thought

1

u/phlegmdawg 1d ago

Even if true, Obama didn’t build a platform on demonizing immigrants to do so. You can have an effective border security system without othering people through bigoted propaganda.

0

u/Academic_Quote3722 19h ago

Demonize them ?? In my home state of TN south american gangs are growing in our 4 major cities sex trafficking is up drugs, violence just look it up. the shit he is saying isnt false alot of bad people are coming across the border but MSM just keeps saying these poor poor people trump is sooo racist its fcking hilarious the shit you guys fall for. Thats why people love trump he calls like it is and doesnt care whose feelings get hurt.

1

u/7FigureTradR 1d ago

Most of these Identity politics people are total losers. I mean look at Their racism. "Anything but an old white man"

Democrats are racist and very confused group of people.

1

u/Jhendo1526 21h ago

Highest drone bombings of children too. LFG 🫡😤

1

u/HTXquest 19h ago

I know and people think trump is so bad but won't even look into how evil Obama was

1

u/FutureAnxiety9287 13h ago

He was also responsible for building those detention centers at the border the media went after Trump for put the kids in cages when Obama was doing the same thing.

1

u/ImportantRevenue3777 1d ago

Yea he also created those cages ya lost your shit over the second the orange man took his place.

2

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

Friendly fire my dude.

I didn't lose my shit over it; I pointed it out to the Dems every time it came up.

2

u/ImportantRevenue3777 1d ago

Loll eh. Don’t bother bud. They stopped arguing for open borders a while ago, and switched up to, “well it’s not a crisis”. Just remind them bidens illegal immigration numbers were literally 7X what Obama’s admin considered a crisis. Not to mention the only reason trumps deportation numbers were lower than Obama’s was because trumps policies kept them from showing up in the first place, and sanctuary cities wouldn’t detain them long enough for ice to round em up.

0

u/walleyetritoon 1d ago

What a racist!!!! Deporting all those people seeking legal asylum.

1

u/BoogersEverywhere 1d ago

They’re not seeking citizenship legally moron. They’re crossing our border illegally, by the millions. DA

0

u/walleyetritoon 14h ago

You missed my sarcasm. I was stating how racist Obama is for his border policies. You know kinda how they portray Trump. 🤣

-2

u/Former_Stretch2503 1d ago

Are you slow? He is a 2 term president

And covid happened during trump term so if you do simple math the border was closed because of covid which sank the economy...if he deported more in 8yrs compared to trump 18mos of fuqing up covid responsibilities yeah Obama deported more

2

u/AtoZagain 1d ago

Obama deported more than any president, not just Trump, but any president no matter what party or if they served one or two terms. Stop with the excuse making. Everyone knows it’s a lie.

1

u/goody1123 1d ago

The border was closed. LOf’nL. Are you serious. Point us to the date it was closed and the date it was reopened.

-1

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago edited 1d ago

No, his yearly rate is higher than Trump's. This is common knowledge and not 1 Democrat has ever argued against this. Proof you are arguing simply to argue. In fact the greatest criticism Obama receives from Dems is his Deportation history.

Further, the border wasn't closed d/t Covid. Only some partial slowdowns occurred at 1st. In fact under Biden during the height of Covid they were let through without Vax/masks while Americans were mandated to have both. (I literally live In a Border state in a migrant hopping station ie "city")

However, the border being closed doesnt stop people being deported. (Did all air traffic and driving cease?)

Edit: typo.

2

u/LuckyRabbit1011 1d ago

Also he’s the only president that killed an American using drones

0

u/Former_Stretch2503 1d ago

You just literally made this up . Holy shit how sad for you

1

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

Ah yes the ole "haha I won" argument.

This is why intellectuals don't play chess with pidgeons.

Cope harder.

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

Further some deport info:

Excerpt:

"While the Obama administration deported 1.18 million people in his first three years, the number of deportations has been a little under 800,000 so far under Trump, according to the Post. The Obama administration also deported 409,849 people in 2012 alone, while the Trump administration has yet to deport more than 260,000 people in a year, the Post reported."

1

u/bucky24 1d ago

Immigration advocates said the Trump administration’s desire to deport immigrants indiscriminately rather than targeting criminals for deportation has slowed its pace.

Lol

0

u/Former_Stretch2503 1d ago

Stop just stop you look foolish it's embarrassing 😳 🫣

1

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

I watched this play out in real time 100 miles from the border. Day by day. I literally paid ATTN to this literal argument. I am personally invested/affected by it. I made this argument repeatedly while it was ongoing. Illegals were let in w/o VAX or mask mandates even while being bussed in. Meanwhile citizens were locked down and mandated to be vaxxed/masked and 6ft apart at all times.

While you were living HS on zoom I was enduring this as a home owner, father, university student, retired Army Nurse, with an "essential worker" wife.

1

u/goody1123 1d ago

I remember what the press asked Psaki if the people flooding across the border were being tested for Covid. And she said that we are not testing them because they don’t plan on staying long. WTF? Look it up. She said that.

0

u/Xintus-1765 1d ago

Trump tried to close the border and the whole Democrat party blocked him bitching about that action would be racist and whatnot...

0

u/DJJohnson24 1d ago

Out of all the negative things Obama’s presidency had you bring up one of the things you republicans praise trump for… new flash, most Americans wants immigrants to come here the right way and don’t support illegals so I’d say that’s another plus for President Obama…

2

u/Relevant-Law-804 1d ago

Deporting them was a plus. Bringing them in and giving them healthcare was a massive negative.

3

u/grillagardnrcyd 1d ago

Obama entered office in 2009, 6 weeks after winning the election in 2008. So he was responsible for the recession?

2

u/LuckyRabbit1011 1d ago

No. Bush’s fault

-2

u/Xintus-1765 1d ago

Yes, he was; same as Biden is responsible for the current one...

1

u/Ok-Indication2976 1d ago

I have a lot of coworkers who will adamantly say if there's a problem, there's a democrat blame, regardless.of the evidence

1

u/the_mage-girl 1d ago

Obama wasn't in office in 2008. He took office in Jan 2009.

1

u/matheno 1d ago

The recession of 2008 happened before Obama took office to be fair

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

Yes but that’s I recalled as a child. Now as a adult I know better than that

1

u/permalink1 1d ago

Obama took office in ‘09 so your memories might be a bit scrambled

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

Indeed not the best childhood 😂

1

u/Ok-Indication2976 1d ago

Yeah, the recession of 08 gets blamed on Obama, but when did he take office? Elections are in even numbered years, but administrations don't start until the next January. Even then, historical, it took 5 to 8 years to see the financial impact of any if their decisions

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

We know this. But like I mentioned before this is what I remembered as a child. Not the best years of my life. As a child one would not know this especially when people say this around you. One would start to believe it’s true until you mature enough to understand

1

u/buzzverb42 1d ago

All presidents are just various versions of Reagan. They don't care.
The Democratic party is now pro genocide, pro fracking, pro war crimes, pro Republican border policy, pro police violence to crush 1st amendment rights. I vote for the party that shares my values. The Democratic party would rather bring Republicans into their circle and exclude left voices. They will, and deserve to die if they don't learn from this. Which they won't. Next election will be more status quo, neoliberal warmongers like Kamala, Fettermen, and Pelosi are.

1

u/Ok_Resort8573 1d ago

Obama fixed the mess Republicans made. Obama didn’t create it.

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

Seems peaceful times for white people but not for us

0

u/MacDynamite71 1d ago

It’s crazy , at the same time the right said the border was wide open.

1

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

Quite honestly it’s easier to enter the us when Biden was president than trump just saying

2

u/Significant-Fruit455 1d ago

Well, the last year of Trump’s presidency, border-crossing was limited due to an unchecked pandemic on Trump’s behalf, soooo…

0

u/zDedly_Sins 1d ago

I’m talking about illegal border crossing as Hispanic with illegal family members and friends.

1

u/Significant-Fruit455 1d ago

You do realize that almost half of the unauthorized immigrants living in the US actually legally crossed, right?

Per the link below: “As much as 45% of the total unauthorized migrant population entered the country with visas that allowed them to visit or reside in the U.S. for a limited amount of time. Known as “overstayers,” these migrants became part of the unauthorized population when they remained in the country after their visas had expired.”

“The Pew Hispanic Center has previously estimated that there are between 11.5 and 12 million unauthorized migrants in 2006.1 The calculations reported in this fact sheet suggest that roughly 4.5 to 6 million or 40 to 50% of the total entered the country legally through ports of entry.”

There’s also the everyday crossings that take place, allowing both Canadians, Mexicans AND US citizens the ability to conduct business on just the other side of the border (in fact, many small towns in Texas, along the border, depend on customers from Mexico:

“For 2004 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) estimated that there were 179 million nonimmigrant admissions, i.e. individual entries by foreign nationals authorized for temporary stays.2 The vast majority of them—148 million—were Canadians and Mexicans who have Border Crossing Cards that allow them to go back and forth across the border frequently for short stays, including daily commutes for work. Another 30.8 million admissions involved foreign nationals with nonimmigrant visas that authorize temporary stays for pleasure, business and study. Some of those people enter more than once in a year, and DHS estimates that 25.8 million individuals actually entered the country at least once on nonimmigrant visas.”
