New Glenn Launch Update: We're shifting our NG-1 launch date to no earlier than January 12 due to a high sea state in the Atlantic where we hope to land our booster. Our three-hour window remains the same, opening Sunday at 1 a.m. EST (0600 UTC).

Nice! It's on a weekend now, so more people can stay up and watch!

I am very pleased with this. Now please either don't scrub, or scrub another full week to the next weekend if needed lol

Note the USSF weather report shows the same moderate to high probability of bad landing weather with a 48 hour delay from the original Friday launch date. If that holds, expect another delay past Sunday.

Starglenn bros, it is not over, there is still hope

Just remember. Delays like this on an inaugural launch for a vehicle that has an expectation to go to orbit on its first try are totally normal.

These delays have nothing to do with the vehicle. They are due to the weather. Starship is on its 7th launch and is also running into weather related delays.

If I read the winds aloft correctly, it is the same jetstream system affecting both.

I guarantee that they still would've pushed the window if the weather and ocean were in perfect conditions. She ain't vertical quite yet sooooo

Jeff Bezos' birthday is January 12th. The proverbial stars are aligning?

I’m excited and will be watching. I assume timing is due to range safety and FAA restrictions but why test a rocket at night? Wouldn’t daylight provide better visual data?

why test a rocket at night?

Another commenter mentioned that the rocket is launching from a busy area so it is easier to launch at night when far less people are working at nearby pads that would otherwise need to close.

Does the cooler night time temperatures cause more thrust even if a tiny amount ?

Too big of waves for landing

I think with all the sensors they have strapped up to the thing they don’t really need visual data, although it would make for a better livestream lol

Weather delays are happening for both. The only people taking sides are people like you that for some reason can’t enjoy the fact that we have 2 large experimental launches within days of each other.

No one said that but keep projecting bro

People were literally whining about the starship delay in the spacex subreddit. Jfc, preemptively complaining about being victims is even more annoying than the usual jabbing that goes on in here 😂😂

Who cares what they say? This stuff is normal and necessary. However advanced rocketry is, it is still very dependent on weather. I hope one day we overcome this hurdle.

Also don't incite spacex guys. They are generally unfotunately very rabid and also active in Blue sub.

The issue is that New Glenn isn't just being pushed out a few days, it was pushed out a few YEARS. It should've launched years ago.

Come on Elon, your turn

This is starting to get annoying. I really just don't get Blue Origin. They are a laughingstock compared to SpaceX. They should've launched this months ago.

Well, I will say that in fairness to Blue, that no one can control the weather.

Are we forgetting the numerous times that Falcon 9 has had to scrub for weather at the launch site or for weather in the booster recovery zone? (Mother Nature can be a fickle mistress).
