Reloading Saturday Shotty (reloading) Sesh

One of the things I enjoy about loading for shotgun is how creative you can get with it. You can use such a diverse range of components and due to the low pressures involved you're less likely to have it blow up in your face.

Shotgun components have become harder than rifle or pistol components, but I'm using some reclaimed low brass target hulls, cast 00 buck, cast 1oz slugs and trying to chop and change wads I've picked up where I could to try and find a good recipe for some hunting loads for the IAC 87-1.

Reloading Good reloading kit?

Just paid for my first rifle, a tikka t3 in 308, and I'm looking to get some gear for reloading ammunition. It's mainly to save money long term as I start to shoot more and collect more firearms. I wasn't a fan of paying for $100 of ammo and giving any leftovers to someone else. Currently looking at getting a Hornady LocknLoad AP because it seems reasonably priced for a 5 station press that comes with a lot of the extras required. I'm not sure if it's any good though and good information on reloading for a beginner seems a bit hard to come by.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Presses, annealers, scales, brass, projectiles, dies, powder, websites, videos, tricks, saftey, where to buy. Anything at all. I want to build up a decent base of knowledge so I don't buy the wrong gear and can get straight into it when I do get the gear.

As a side note I am looking to be able to make quite a bit of ammo in a short amount of time, hence why I'm looking at the Hornady five station. It's not a requirement though, and if I can get a decent reloading set up for very cheap I'm willing to put in the extra time to save on investment. If that's not possible though, I would like to get some fancier gear right from the get go and make my life easier.

Reloading Feasibility of reloading

Hey guys. I was thinking of trying reloading, I spend quite a bit on ammo as I shoot 308, 303 and 7.62x54 quite a lot, and I was curious as to what I should be looking to get out of it.

I mostly just shoot plinking at the range, or hunting when I get the chance to get away from work.

If it isn’t gonna save me money, but I may be able to get more accurate rounds, or whatever it may be, I’d love to hear from those who reload regularly.

Isn’t powder hard to come by at the moment too? Or is that just pistol powder.

Any tips on how to get started would be much appreciated, I did watch a very long YouTube series about the steps so I have a general idea.

Reloading 3D printed shotgun shell cutter.

Bought this from a guy on a FB reloading page and it works a treat. Got me thinking about previous posts on here regarding 3D printing, and posts about the difficulties in sourcing various components here at the prices being asked.

There's definitely an opportunity there for people to (relatively) easily and cheaply make things locally that are either unavailable or prohibitively expensive.

Reloading 175gr SMK .30

Anyone heard an ETA on when they’re back in stock? I’ve been waiting on back order for 3/4months, I’m sure there’s some that have been waiting more.

Sierras site has them as available.

Reloading Old ammo question. Hornady steel case 308 win

Not really a reloading question but reloader insights would be helpful.

I have Hornady steel case in 308 that's about 15 years old. Back then it was easily hitting dinner plate sized targets at 350m out of a browning a bolt. So I bought a bulk order to save $$$.

Fast forward to now and I'm barely hitting the same targets at 150 to 200m.

My question is: could this batch of ammo have degraded over time? I live in a humid area and moisture during storage is a factor.

Any thoughts?

Reloading cheapest .223Rem projectiles.

Hey everyone, I made some nice 223 handloads for hunting, but I also want to make some slightly less nice ones just for shooting targets and what not.

What are some cheap brands for projectiles throwaway FMJ, SP projectiles? I see Speer makes some, anyone else? I am not going down the casting route.

Reloading Test batch of Eminence Projectiles

Doing a small test run of Eminence Projectiles 44mag RNFP. Using S&B primers, once-fired PPU brass and 8gn of AP70n. Should be getting around 1100fps.

Really hoping these projectiles work out as they're Aussie made and the price is right.

Thought I'd give these a go for the .44; not only was the price right, but I'm happier supporting Australian industry. Anyone used products from this mob before?

Reloading Reloading Equipment Must haves

Hi all, you may have seen my last post about economics of reloading, I am deciding to go down the rabbit hole of reloading everything myself - I don’t shoot too often, once every 2-3 weeks so I’m not after anything too fancy.

I was wondering what are the must haves for reloading? I saw that some presses come with quick release attachments which seems like a great idea!

I haven’t bought anything for it yet, looking at the Hornady Auto Charge Pro for the dispenser, haven’t decided on a press yet, or weather to go down the ultrasonic cleaning route. Any recommendations on an equipment is also welcomed, looking to spend around $1000 - $1500.

Reloading 458 WSM/Noveske Load data

Just reaching out to see if anyone can look up the load data on Quick load, or that has a bit of experience with this calibre,

I had the load written down awhile back, but cant seem to find where I left it.

18" barrel,
Running 325gr FTX rounds.
Just wanting to avoid the work up from scratch all over again.

Thanks in advance guys.

Every time I think I'll delete my FB account, I come across a bargain from someone offloading gear. Picked up a Lyman 1oz slug mould in great condition, and an unused LEE 44mag SWC mould for a yarn and a pineapple!

Anyone here reload 12g? I’m looking at getting the Lee Load All 2 so I can load slugs and heavy buckshot, but if anyone has any better suggestions I’d like to hear them.

Reloading Thoughts on the Ugly SRT?

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting into reloading and came across the Ugly SRT as an option for case trimming. Seems better than some cheap options and a home-grown alternative to the WFT (which doesn't seem to be easy to get here).

Anyone have experience with it?

Cheers!
