I totally forgot to post here on Dec 21! Yeah I went there. Because, if Cosmic Carnage had a BD vid... Why not Kasumi Ninja?
IMO NOT the worst FG ever (SNES MK1, Criticom and Pit Fighter Snes are worse tbh) it really shows his age and how difficult programming for the Jag was, as also the inexpertise of the designers.
Once in an OLD gameplay vid, I interacted with one of the OG devs and he told me that Kasumi Ninja engine were "two transparent polygons for the characters, where the animations and sprites were superposed". Nice tidbit. Would love to know more.
I DO WANT THIS GAME TO BE ADDED ON THE ATARI 50 PACKAGE! UNCENSORED PLEASE!
Im not gonna bash the game nor say anything any Youtuber hasnt. The game is slow, clunky and a product of its time, full of offensive gags, and what not. Zero originality, no combos whatsoever (I think?) and an OST to laugh for days (Even while I think its better than most of SF6 OST, with some themes sharing some... similarities).
Graphically its decent for the machine and on a CRT it looks better too, specially the stages!. I played it a couple of times when I traveled to the capital city of Venezuela on a Kiosk and... Didnt get much of it and just jump kicked my way on the CPU.
Speaking of which, Im sorry for all the fireball spamming, its the best tech vs the CPU and the Ninja God mode is only 1 credit.
I unlocked Chagi and used him for the rest of the game, he is ny fave 😅
That day I played it back then, there were some guys at it and what I could heard was that "the game looks good but plays bad, MK2/KI are better". Of course they were/are. I think that was early 1995.
I still prefer Kasumi Ninja to Ultra Vortek, sorry.
And yes, I know this game never got an arcade release, but I framed it like that, because it has "that flair". Also the dirty screen, totally on purpose. Thats how I imagine a Kasumi Ninja arcade cab would be back then.

While definitely not a good game, I’ve had a lot of fun with it, and beat it on the highest difficulty multiple times.
It had some interesting ideas and the fact it doesn’t take itself too seriously is definitely a plus in my opinion, it’s a shame the dungeon exploration part got taken out, not saying I’m sure it would’ve made it better but it definitely could’ve helped the game stand out more.
I hope all the negative reviews from the time didn’t discourage the developers from continuing to make interesting games, it showed a lot of promise, and it’s definitely in the top 5 fighting games made for the Jaguar, lol.
