Biden tells people concerned about heating their homes this winter that they can get a tax credit to install solar panels on their roofs. đ Sleepy Joe đ¤

Soooo you have to spend $25,000 to get a credit of $7500 which you can only earn if you paid that amount in federal taxes that year. If you donât have the $25,000, you then have to finance it. If you donât have a good credit score your interest rate will be through the roof. Thanks for this guidance Prez

Thinking hurts. I've also read that the smaller your brain is, the tighter you have to squeeze your face - I think it has something to do with constricting the cranium around the pea-sized brain to force it do what it's supposed to. - some scientific journal

And if you rent, then you have to go and buy a house first, which just adds to the expense.

Leave it a guy that's been on the public's dime his own career to not care about interest rates.

To his credit though he didnât lose track of the zeros in the numbers like he normally does. Normally you would have saved either 75 thousand or 75 million depending on his mood

u/mei740 NOVICE Nov 19 '22
The only way this makes sense is if you need a federal tax credit. The cost to install, the rebates and interest free loans it almost zeros out and if you have enough panels your electric bill becomes zero.
1
u/wishtherunwaslonger NOVICE Nov 19 '22
If you donât have good credit you are fucked. This is for homeowners that are doing fine and landlords property owners etc. even with increased rates it still makes sense if the property is good with panels. The problem is panels can be beyond expensive. At least where I live my neighborhood is gentrifying. Tons of panels. Elon!!! Make those panels not so damn reflective. Some of these houses shine like they are Sauron or one of those panel farms with mirrors. Itâs blinding in the sun but beyond beautiful when not.
1
u/Milli_Vanilli14 NOVICE Nov 20 '22
You can roll over the credit. Itâll get used. You can also lease. And the âfinancingâ is literally you just paying less than your electricity bill. Zero upfront costs. Zero. No hidden fees.
Iâll add: for interest rate, as long as youâre not behind on your mortgage you get a good rate.
72
u/Cutterman01 NOVICE Nov 19 '22
If you canât afford your electricity how are you going to afford solar panel installation. Itâs like telling people if you canât afford your gas then buy a $60k electric vehicle.

I canât wait until someone asks how they can store wind power for those days without so much as a breeze.
5
1
u/TalornCeleron NOVICE Nov 20 '22
That's simple. We take two wind turbines and put them in front of each other. Then it's just a matter of reversing the blades on one. After that they'll cause each other to revolve giving us perpetual clean energy.

1
u/Milli_Vanilli14 NOVICE Nov 20 '22
Yâall need to research first then get outraged. Just did solar and went through this with a CPA.
Zero upfront costs. Not one dime. The financing is literally just paying less than your electricity bill. The tax credit can be rolled over. As long as your not behind on your mortgage youâll get financed at a low interest rate. Rate is locked in for 25 years while electricity bills rise annually.
This is absolutely not the same as telling someone to buy a new car.
2
u/Jackaloo382 COMPETENT Nov 20 '22
I'm sure that installation and labor was free, too, right?
1
u/Milli_Vanilli14 NOVICE Nov 20 '22
Itâs all baked in. I just got 16 panels and a panel upgrade and have paid zero dollars so far.
Really the only âcatchâ is that if you purchase the panels than you need to apply that 30% tax credit as a down payment but you can do that over years. If you donât do that, then your monthly rate goes up to make up for it.
If you donât feel comfortable doing that, than you can lease the panels and the company keeps the credit and your payment down.

But donât worry youâll get a tax break that doesnât help anyone at all!!

u/Puppyboy2003 NOVICE Nov 19 '22
Yes, but not well at all, or sufficiently to power your home. From experience, they still produce something in the winter, just not a lot. Also, when solar panels are doing their thing, they get hot. As s result, it melts the snow a bit. And all at once, scaring the shit out of everyone whoomphsh it all falls off at once. (Then it builds up again).

Wait what. Usually there is some tiny merit to what Biden says, but does he just not know how solar panels work?
My family is fortunate enough to have solar panels, and I asked them how well they work thought the year. Summer is where they shine, (but he is talking about for winter).
In the winter, the day is shorter, reducing possible energy. Also, from my experience it is more often overcast, reducing possible energy. Also, there is this thing called snow, and from my experience it mostly stays on the panels (sometimes sliding off all at once), again, you guessed it, reducing the effectiveness of the panels.
It seems Biden is able to understand that there is a higher energy demand in the winter, but not only does he not understand the financial infesibiliry to many people (even with the government grants), he doesn't realize that solar panels are so utterly ineffective in the winter.
Our family goes all out with Christmas decorations in the winter, it makes my brother happy. But even if we didn't, there is no chance that we could be solely reliant on solar. And maybe that is not the point in Bidens mind. Maybe he thinks it will just supplement the needs. But at that point, it again is not economically feasable to buy a long term solution if you are struggling in the present.
To be clear, I am not against solar panels. I suggested to my family we get some, and try it out. They are cool to me. But I also understand that we are the outliers. We are the few able to spend that type of money now to save some in the future, most people can't. Biden can't see the struggles of people less fortunate then him, and admittedly I struggle with that too; but at least I try to realize it and not shove a bad financial decision down your throat.
Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. But I just don't see how winter conditions + people already struggling + solar panels (with small price drop) = a rational solution. Other solutions he listed, maybe. Solar panels, no.

Honestly, I can get behind the upgrading windows and doors. I think if the govt made some sort or subsidy/0 interest repayment plan it would have a much bigger impact than telling ppl go buy an electric car. This is the issue. There is never an actual plan in place, just rhetoric.

When one is accustomed to their family flying around the world and picking up bags of cash, getting no show no work jobs and seats of boards of directors, itâs fair to say they lose touch with how regular people live.
In the case of our Dead Leader, itâs even worse because his people often fly on taxpayers dime to pick up their cash.

Yeah, insta solar panels on the middle of winter when there is sun it is there a very short time. Not enough to charge those extremely expensive solar batteries not to mention the installation is expensive so if you can not afford your current heating source payment how would one afford solar panel installation. Mind you tax credit if approved comes months later so Bogus Joe Biden once again has his head way up his backside while listening to his puppet masters.
