I was raised by my dad (my mom died and he was pretty old and conservative), and yea...the internet and my weird friend Traci from down the block basically had to reassure me that I wasn't dying. Good Guy Traci also helped me steal my first training bra from Walmart because I would have had to ask my dad for the money, and I think I would have rather jumped off a cliff than tell him what I needed the money for. Good times.
My dad will get up and leave the room when tampon commercials come on on TV. One time I came downstairs in a sports bra (because yoga) and he made me put an apron on to cover up. My dad is weird.
Pretty sure that just by alluding to the facts that you get a period and also use soldering irons to fix your stuff, half of Reddit just got a boner... Or maybe it was just me.
I've always been a handywoman. Leaky drain under the sink? I fix. Broken drawers? I fix. Need a computer? I fix. Need fish? I fix. Something broken in the car? I can try to fix.
I generally think that more people need to try to fix things more often. Being on a tight budget also forces one to try to fix stuff rather than replace or get someone else to fix it.
I was kinda joking, but kinda not. That's awesome! I'm the same way (for the money reason, but also because it's interesting to learn new shit and why not), and I lament the way shit seems to be increasingly harder to fix diy style these days.

My poor father has three daughters and still can't say the word "bra" in front of us.
