Wait, you're saying you don't eat them?

23

u/NeckerInk Jul 13 '15

Eating them is just what you do when you sniff, just in the other direction.

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

I do and fuck anyone that thinks it's gross. They're mine and I'll eat them if I want!

92

u/Valkyrie21 Jul 13 '15

Hey it may help out your immune system...probably.

136

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

I should be fucking unstoppable by now

8

u/Valkyrie21 Jul 13 '15

Until the T-virus comes around.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

T-virus?

21

u/Luxtoleo Jul 13 '15

Im pretty sure that's the virus from Resident Evil that turns people into zombies

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

What T-virus stop scaring me

2

u/craigmontHunter Jul 14 '15

Can confirm - I haven't been sick in 10 years.

1

u/CombatBanana Jul 14 '15

Notice that you generally get the cold/flu virus less often than those around you? IIRC the article he is referring too said that eating your bogers helps build your immune system to the bacteria that are often present in your nose.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

Is that true? Because I have noticed that I get colds and flu waaaay less than anyone around me. Only sick days I've ever taken was when I was hungover.

0

u/CombatBanana Jul 14 '15

Well it isn't exactly a well studied topic in regards to eating bookers but it is what the doctor in the article proposed. It makes sense when you think about it as our immune system is very reactive in terms of what it is prepared for and actively producing anti bodies*.

*Not a doctor don't hate me for it

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

That's a better answer than I expected. Don't feel so gross now.

1

u/PuffinGreen Jul 13 '15

Pretty sure the snot is more or less a result of your immune system doing work

1

u/Valkyrie21 Jul 14 '15

The idea is that reintroducing old pathogens present in your snot through ingestion may help boost your immune system. I don't believe that there is any conclusive evidence regarding this though so who knows if it's true.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

It's all the same in that regard.

1

u/cefriano Jul 14 '15

I did read that it helps keep you from getting ulcers, since it adds mucus to your stomach lining. Though I'd imagine there are other things that would contribute more to this. Like swallowing your snot when you have a runny/stuffy nose instead of spitting it out.

1

u/hitlerosexual Jul 14 '15

Well in the past 6 years I've only gotten sick to the point of throwing up once, and I eat em. Well, at least I've only gotten sick to the point of throwing up because of an illness once. Alcohol induced vomit doesn't count in this study.

23

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

My nose worked hard to make them, I'm not going to waste them!

2

u/BallsOfLego Jul 14 '15

I have already got Nic on this. Call me.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

But I get to shack up with Nic Cage. You aren't doing a lot to sway me away from eating my nose goo. Even if your version of the story ends up with me being dead. Still shagged Nicholas Cage.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Also, good read. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. 10/10. Did read again

50

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Don't know if you're kidding, but I too have never understood why it is considered gross. It's dried mucus. Snot is in your mouth all the time. It's free and it tastes good. Who gives a fuck? Just don't do it in front of people.

26

u/Kenny__Loggins Jul 13 '15

And poop is just food that's been processed. You people disgust me!

41

u/Maven_Red_Buyer Jul 13 '15

Poop isn't in your mouth all the time. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

-3

u/Kenny__Loggins Jul 13 '15

Boogers aren't in my mouth all the time either

-2

u/Kenny__Loggins Jul 14 '15

Right, but mucus != boogers

4

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

They are, just in liquid form.

0

u/Kenny__Loggins Jul 14 '15

That's not boogers. All you bastards trying to convince me to love eating boogers are fucked in the head and have underestimated my stubbornness!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

I'm not trying to convince you to love eating boogers, I'm just trying to tell you you're already doing it.

1

u/Kenny__Loggins Jul 14 '15

In all seriousness, there is a drastic difference between mucus in your throat and eating boogers. Just like there is a difference between spit and that horrid dried spit that collects at the sides of your mouth. Or the difference between your mom and a really dried out version of your mom.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

People getting caught. They're the real sinners

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

Your nose filters the air you breathe. I'd imagine the residue isn't exactly the hygienic.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

I've heard tales of people who breathe from their mouth also.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

true i guess

-5

u/Shitmybad Jul 13 '15

Mucus isn't the same as saliva, and it isn't in your mouth...

4

u/RangeRoverHSE Jul 13 '15

Have you ever had a cold? That shit gets in your mouth all the damn time.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Haha are you kidding me? Do you even sniff bro?

15

u/DPStrogen95 Jul 13 '15

That disgusts me, but I'll applaud your honesty.

14

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Someone had to stand up and say it.

15

u/latentspark Jul 13 '15

All these upvotes... I thought I was alone in the world.

4

u/aestheticpisces Jul 13 '15

Wait, so you eat them, and then fuck anyone who thinks it's gross? You're hardcore. Do those who don't think it's gross get to watch?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

No those people don't get to join in our slimey green fun.

9

u/afleischer Jul 14 '15

Well fuck me. Picking your nose = not an issue. Eating what you've picked out = completely and unequivocally fucking disgusting.

14

u/FrisianDude Jul 13 '15

that's gross. You're gross.

49

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

You're gross

31

u/Rolobox Jul 13 '15

Oh shit

10

u/Dr_Bombinator Jul 13 '15

Just got fucking told

edit; wut. How come this is an answer to Rolobox' oh shit? I thought I was replying to King-Jimmy's "you're gross".

2

u/ElectroBoof Jul 14 '15

Who cares, so many people do

1

u/FrisianDude Jul 14 '15

they're gross

2

u/Picnicpanther Jul 14 '15

OVER THE LINE, SMOKEY.

2

u/truthlife Jul 14 '15

My hero! I've been eating my boogers for as long as I can remember and I'll never stop.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

Finally a fellow eater. Solidarity brother.

2

u/kenman884 Jul 14 '15

Plus that's how your body trains its immune system.

6

u/Shrimpton Jul 13 '15

Just like cum right? We'll eat it with fries if we want!

9

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Nah, don't like salty chips

3

u/wardamn95 Jul 13 '15

I...gross man

3

u/LurkerOrHydralisk Jul 13 '15

But the whole point is to get them away from your sinuses. If you put them in your mouth that's like swallowing the loogey you snorted from your sinuses to your mouth. Pointless

12

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Sometimes that's nice too.

2

u/JamJarre Jul 13 '15

This guy knows what's up.

Probably why he's a King

1

u/informationmissing Jul 13 '15

it is impolite to spit.

1

u/explodyhead Jul 13 '15

There is some research that may point to picking your nose and eating your boogers being incredibly beneficial to your immune system.

1

u/CupcakeGuy Jul 13 '15

Ya.Where does most mucus go anyways?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

In mah belly

1

u/ghostpoopftw Jul 14 '15

I think I have just as much right to personally think it's gross as you do to do it. As long as I don't let my opinion of it negatively affect you, I don't see why you automatically say fuck me..

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

You took this way too seriously.

1

u/Zakgeki Jul 14 '15

Where do they think most of your snot goes anyways?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

Probably on the coat of whoever's in front of me on the bus.

very different.

-3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

Now thats just wrong.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '15

It's always been something I've done. Never thought about it until now. It's only wrong because it isn't socially acceptable. Despite the fact way more people do it and deny it. If everyone ate their snots it wouldn't be wrong. It would just be another thing that humans do.

11

u/JamJarre Jul 13 '15

I tend to find them too tart for my delicate palate. Plus how else am I going to craft my snot candles if I'm eating all my raw material?

7

u/Dujave Jul 13 '15

I can't imagine your snot candles burn very efficiently. Have you considered earwax candles instead?

2

u/JamJarre Jul 13 '15

I believe the patent for those already belongs to a Father Crilly of Craggy Island. It's just such a crowded marketplace these days.

Maybe I should set up a "send your enemies boogers" thing, like that glitter guy

2

u/alloftheinternet Jul 14 '15

Who doesn't? I only use a tissue if I realllllly am trying hard to not to be judged

1

u/kjata Jul 13 '15

I like to use the corpses of pathogens inside them as training dummies for my immune system. Or let the horrifically acidic environment inside my stomach destroy it. I'm not totally clear on which happens first.

1

u/rmoss20 Jul 13 '15

They boost your immune system.

1

u/cynthash Jul 14 '15

KRISTOFF, GET OUT OF MY MOVIE YOU DON'T BRING THAT DISGUSTING FLEA-BITTEN ASS ANYWHERE NEAR MY STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE
