Notice that you generally get the cold/flu virus less often than those around you? IIRC the article he is referring too said that eating your bogers helps build your immune system to the bacteria that are often present in your nose.
Is that true? Because I have noticed that I get colds and flu waaaay less than anyone around me. Only sick days I've ever taken was when I was hungover.
Well it isn't exactly a well studied topic in regards to eating bookers but it is what the doctor in the article proposed. It makes sense when you think about it as our immune system is very reactive in terms of what it is prepared for and actively producing anti bodies*.
The idea is that reintroducing old pathogens present in your snot through ingestion may help boost your immune system. I don't believe that there is any conclusive evidence regarding this though so who knows if it's true.
I did read that it helps keep you from getting ulcers, since it adds mucus to your stomach lining. Though I'd imagine there are other things that would contribute more to this. Like swallowing your snot when you have a runny/stuffy nose instead of spitting it out.
Well in the past 6 years I've only gotten sick to the point of throwing up once, and I eat em. Well, at least I've only gotten sick to the point of throwing up because of an illness once. Alcohol induced vomit doesn't count in this study.
But I get to shack up with Nic Cage. You aren't doing a lot to sway me away from eating my nose goo. Even if your version of the story ends up with me being dead. Still shagged Nicholas Cage.
Don't know if you're kidding, but I too have never understood why it is considered gross. It's dried mucus. Snot is in your mouth all the time. It's free and it tastes good. Who gives a fuck? Just don't do it in front of people.
In all seriousness, there is a drastic difference between mucus in your throat and eating boogers. Just like there is a difference between spit and that horrid dried spit that collects at the sides of your mouth. Or the difference between your mom and a really dried out version of your mom.
But the whole point is to get them away from your sinuses. If you put them in your mouth that's like swallowing the loogey you snorted from your sinuses to your mouth. Pointless
I think I have just as much right to personally think it's gross as you do to do it. As long as I don't let my opinion of it negatively affect you, I don't see why you automatically say fuck me..
It's always been something I've done. Never thought about it until now. It's only wrong because it isn't socially acceptable. Despite the fact way more people do it and deny it. If everyone ate their snots it wouldn't be wrong. It would just be another thing that humans do.
I like to use the corpses of pathogens inside them as training dummies for my immune system. Or let the horrifically acidic environment inside my stomach destroy it. I'm not totally clear on which happens first.

Wait, you're saying you don't eat them?
