Man Friday afternoons I fire down a few tall boys before I even touch my lawnmower. I cut my grass on Thursday last week without drinking, and god damn that took forever.
The key is to do all power tool work first. Wake up, have breakfast, then do any hedge-trimming, weed-whacking right away. If the task needs a chainsaw, do that too. That way, you can drink during the other tasks. The ones that won't scar you for life.
Say, laying down sod, pavers, things like that.
If math tought me anything, it was "order of operations"
You would think so, but that has not been my experience. I'm in construction /sales. When I sit down with potential customers, I can pick out the engineers within few minutes by the questions they ask. Most people are operating on emotion and ego.
tried mowing the lawn while drinking a beer, ended up drinking a 12 pack and falling asleep in my porch swing after.... when I woke up I looked at the lawn and my lines were all sorts of fucked up
Yep. We had a big lawn growing up, so dad would hop on the riding lawnmower with a nice cold beer. By about halfway though he would reach the corner of the fence, where he had strategically pre-placed a second beer to get him through the rest of the mowing.
I bought a house off a bloke which had a huuuuge back lawn. Guy had a big ride on mower to mow it. I asked him how long it took to mow that bit: "uhhh, about two beers?"
When you work outside in Florida and you start at 6 AM. I worked concrete jobs that had to finish before noon because the heat of the day would fuck up how the mix would set.
Uh, anybody who lives in midwest/south. It is currently 101 degrees. Oy was 86 at sun up and 93 when my man chores were done today. So, the answer is anyone anywere hot that isn't a giant boob.
I'm a programmer and it's the same with us. A lunch beer after a solid morning programming (lunch being 1pm-ish usually) isn't unheard of. Not common, but also not frowned upon.

Must be my inner redneck showing that I never heard of anyone thinking poorly of a cold beer after hard yardwork.
