East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It changed me.

Hell yeah. Within ten pages there is rape and duplicity and the next three parts of the book are the ramifications of such.

Steinbeck is my favorite author STILL.

You may be the same person that I chatted with a year ago the last time this question was ask (and you answered East of Eden), but if you like Steinbeck and EoE, then you should check out "North Water" by Ian McGuire.
