Finger release vs thumb release Compound
I don't know about you guys, but I am finding that I just keep going back to my finger release.... I liked my Wise Choice thumb release but I tend to trust my Wise Guy finger release more... I can shoot accurately with both, yet I find less accidental mishaps with the Wise Guy. I am a fan of having the release button on the outside of the release as opposed to on your side where you may accidentally nick it and set it off.
I have also opted to mostly hunting now and don't really go to 3D shoots anymore due to money spent and amount travelling to shoots.
To each their own... What releases are you guys shooting nowadays? Is there a better thumb release option?

I bought a Stan Onex XL thumb release about a year ago and shot it all summer. To be honest at first I kept going back to my Jaws trigger finger release. After shooting for about 4 months I prefer with the thumb when 3D shooting. But I could switch back at anytime. Used it hunting this year but have the same limitations with trigger and have to use thin gloves. I like it but IMO I don’t think it improved a lot but it’s fun to shoot.

thanks for your comment. i find the the index release to be more natural and I don't have to think when hunting. I can hook in and shoot without looking.

I’ve been shooting a tru-fire hardcore for probably 6-7 years now and don’t see my self changing anytime soon. I prefer a index finger release, and I much prefer a single jaw release. When I was younger and newer to archery I liked exploring new options. These days I’m much more following the if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it philosophy

that is a good philosophy. i got on the band wagon of trying everything. i am at a point now where I am just sticking to my set up.
I might play around more with my wise choice for a while and then make a decision to make money back on it.

For target practice I run handheld nock2it and hunting I use a wise guy trigger. I just find it a bit easier with all my layers on. I sent an arrow flying on a draw cuz my thumb button hit my thick neck layer 🥲 and I dropped my bow from the tree lol sad day..

oh brutal! was the bow okay?! and i hear you. I found that shooting from an angle the index release is much more comfortable. I love my wise guy. i am debating selling my wise choice...

I used a truefire index release for quite a while, but I tried a friend's Tru-ball Stalk'r thumb release, and I'm hooked. Immediately bought one, and I love it. I haven't personally had mishaps with the stalk'r. It definitely just depends on the archer. Using what is comfortable, consistent, and effective for you is what's important.

I felt like that too at the beginning. I then found that I liked having the release strapped to my wrist. I found that with practice I was very consistent with the index.

I shoot the Scott echo, I like it at this point it’s my go to index style release. I went through to Carter wise choices between august-November last year and Carter refused to help me with them even tho an employee at Carter or a sponsored guy at Carter told me they will fix it. I will never shoot a Carter. Even tho that’s the best thumb button I have used. Going with the Stan onnex.

My Stan onnex got damaged (I dropped it) sent in and got fixed within 2 weeks. There customer support was good to work with.

I shoot a lot and I’m hard on equipment so I’m hoping if something happens to this Stan I’ll get a little bit more help then what Carter was willing to do. Still sore about that shit man almost $600 on 2 releases in a few months and they wouldn’t even give me any help. I saw a post where it happened to some guy on Facebook group and probably 30 others guys said the same thing and a few guys said they had zero issues. I like to the style of the onnex and I intend to buy a clicker in the very near future.

I've started with, and only use thumb release because I decided that was the most direct connection between string and fingers.

I’m way less punchy with my thumb release personally and I find drawing to be much easier

As someone who does thumb draw, I was very confused for a moment.
