I love this. The betta section at my work makes me cringe anytime I walk that way. I wish all stores kept them like this.

Why don’t you say something?

24

u/AnonBitch74 Nov 25 '24

Because it's corporate that decides that and they only care about profit unfortunately.

25

u/Potential-Amor42 Nov 25 '24

they don’t care like at all. not even enough to train the workers about basic animal care

-26

u/Totallynotokayokay Nov 25 '24

You do it then?

u/UncoolOcean Nov 25 '24

Were you born yesterday?

Do you need help?

21

u/Far_Statistician112 Nov 25 '24

If you look at their profile it will answer your question right away (you've been warned).

u/simply_fucked Nov 25 '24

3

u/Riptide047 Nov 25 '24

I should have listened to your warning

u/notBeer_ Nov 25 '24

dudes profile is WILD

u/Iluvplushiesandstuff Nov 25 '24

I don’t know what the deal is? What is the profile? I’m sorry I can change it. This is a shared account with my sister. I don’t know if she will let me change it. I don’t even know what it is nor really care. Unless if it’s urgent? I don’t know this is kind of a shared account. Though I use it now mostly. She has weird communities I deleted. I haven’t really thought of changing it. If needed I can change it I never think of doing it. I had no idea I can change it? If you want.

wdym? What is my profile? This was my sisters account and I don’t go on Reddit often. She doesn’t use Reddit anymore. What is the profile. Is it concerning? Should I know about what this is? 💀

My LFS has this but not many tanks, I feel like they are sacrificing profit with tank space just to show how a betta should really be kept and I love it

23

u/Zahraize Nov 25 '24

Honestly they would still sell them quickly if not quicker because the fish would look so much healthier and more colorful. It's a win for the fish, the shop and the customer.

My faith in humanity has been restored

13

u/Tsmpnw Nov 25 '24

I love seeing this. We're never going to convince people that Bettas can't live in a flower vase when they're buying them in plastic cups of a half cup of water.

11

u/SeaShellShanty Nov 25 '24

Can we shame Petsmart into doing this please?

6

u/simply_fucked Nov 25 '24

Lmfao they would never

3

u/Geschak Nov 26 '24

Capitalism goes brrrrr

5

u/PhixionGames Nov 25 '24

I tried so hard when I worked there. I was constantly getting in trouble for going “against policy” when I would do things to try and make life just a little better for the animals

5

u/Bubblez___ Nov 25 '24

love to see this

5

u/reanocivn Nov 25 '24

thank god. i needed this after seeing the poor bettas in plastic cups of not enough yellow water at my local shop

2

u/ns27d Nov 25 '24

Beats having those tiny little cubes for sure

2

u/hearty_breakfast Nov 25 '24

this is so sexy 😫

2

u/skygt3rsr Nov 25 '24

That’s how it should be if it exists at all I hate seeing those little cups

u/Iluvplushiesandstuff Nov 25 '24

Ok this is the kind of stores we really need. I support that store. Though petsmart is my only option in this town I live in. I want a non big cooperation. Smaller business actually gives better quality and actually has knowledge on fish. Though the petsmart in my town I know some and most employees (some are my friends). They are knowledgeable on fish and stuff. also my friends are specialler than me. They got weird quirky fish. blind cave tetras? Buck tooth tetras, cuttlefish, and a bunch of goofy little critters.

1

u/taskmeister Nov 25 '24

madness......

1

u/Jerkinss Nov 25 '24

I absolutely love that they aren’t in a plastic box. I’d be much more inclined to betta if it looked like it had a happy home at the store

1

u/iowanaquarist Nov 25 '24

Looking good!

1

u/TheOriginalSamBell Nov 25 '24

stupid q is that not too much water flow for betta with those filters and few plants

1

u/bexxyrex Nov 25 '24

That is the nicest Betta setup in a store that I've ever seen

1

u/floggedlog Nov 25 '24

My favorite store has betta fish scattered throughout the store in 20 gallon tanks that are only shared with either plants for sale or tank mates that the beta fish ignores and ignore it. They don’t have the room to set up a wall like this for beta fish only They also get them from a local breeder who treats them the same according to the store employees.

1

u/limpiatodos Nov 25 '24

Why are the spongefilters so big?

1

u/Mizzundasto0d Nov 25 '24

Are those bubblers for the bettas? Wondering if that is necessary for a beta? If I should get one or not?

1

u/UnusualCrayon1 Nov 25 '24

This is a repost so I'd ask on the original post! Just thought everyone needed a pallet cleanser from all the sad bettas we see on these subs

1

u/Hymura_Kenshin Nov 25 '24

Meanwhile a store here kewan them in 200 ml plastic water cups

1

u/Pure-Barracuda-103 Nov 25 '24

Is this exotic pets in OKC? There's looks identical!! Awesome setup and absolutely beautiful

1

u/eatpalmsprings Nov 26 '24

What city is this?

1

u/riaapp Nov 26 '24

My local fish store does something similar with 5 gallon tanks. Love pet stores that see bettas as more than “just a fish” 🤍

1

u/PushSmart5414 Nov 26 '24

This is a proper setup compared to those single cups 😳😬

1

u/lookup_mooooon Nov 26 '24

This is amazing. Petco/Pet Smart is so sad

1

u/jaredpaul89 Nov 26 '24

One of my local stores has a 125 gallon Betta community tank. No plants. Bare bottom. Males and females together. Torn fins and bland colors is all you see.
