Tell me your most boring methods of avoiding consumption Discussion

Post image

As the title says I want you comment your most boring, mundane, unimpressive, absolutely not worth posting, methods of avoiding buying shit.

The key to our survival as a species has always been our ability to communicate and share knowledge. In the age of the pending apocalypse, every corner of the internet is packed with content telling us to consume.
The problem is that talking about how to make things we use everyday seems so rare, especially online. I think it's because the topic is seen as boring, compared to other posts that elicit an emotional response, so no one bothers. But in some ways not consuming is the only way we have of protesting the system, and we need to collectively share our methods of doing so - no matter how boring.

I'll start. I was going to buy salt water hairspray, but then my inner cheapskate didn't want to pay for it. The result was this me using this recipe; 1 cup water, 1 tbsp sea salt, 1 tsp aloe vera. I then put it in a super old spray bottle I never use and was considering getting rid of. That's it. I spent $0.

I use 100mg caffeine pills instead of coffee or energy drinks. $20 for a bottle of 500 pills.

I was drinking insane amounts of energy drinks before I switched to this, and have been able to wean myself from 600-800mg a day to 100-200mg. I also save SO. MUCH. MONEY. i regret not doing it sooner

Ive also been vegetarian for about a year and spend so much less on takeout and groceries!

Good for you! There was a month or so where I downed energy drinks to get by at work, but other than that I've never had a serious problem with caffeine. Recently I've noticed I don't even care for coffee that much and I think I might just drink water from hereon out. I stopped buying juice because I had nothing to do with the containers. Sometimes I make my own smoothies. Thats probably enough.

Fun tip,

Get the kind that's 100mg Caffeine + 100mg Theanine. Basically the same price but theanine makes the energy feel a lot cleaner.

Bonus for anxiety, increase your magnesium intake.

Caffeine is horrible for you, just don’t consume it all.

Caffeine is perfectly fine to consume. In the 100-200mg range, there are literally zero side effects. Stop spreading misinformation.

The vast majority of people who drink caffeine do not stay within that range…

It’s also addictive and you build a tolerance to it. Enjoy being a slave to a drug known to cause heart problems that you are 100% better off not consuming.

The vast majority of people who drink caffeine do not stay within that range

Do you have a source to back up this statement on what the "majority of people" do? Or did you make something up based on anecdotal evidence because you have low IQ and you're dogmatic?

It’s also addictive

It *can be addictive. It is not inherently addictive.

you build a tolerance to it

You *can build a tolerance to it.

a drug known to cause heart problems

Do you have a source that supports the claim that any amount of caffeine causes heart problems? Or did you make that up too?

Enjoy being a slave

You're awfully sensitive and melodramatic. Life is too short to be so bitter and hateful. Consider going outside, socializing, and having a hobby. It's not healthy to be chronically online and angry.
