Chained birds of prey, what can be done?

/img/11chsssu1lbe1.jpeg

I was visiting my grandparents in a small town in Czech Republic (Kroměříž) and visited the local castle gardens. I knew from my childhood, that they are holding monkeys in solitary and tiny cages which is also horrible to watch. But this time I found that they’ve added a bird of prey section with owls and buzzards and such. I couldn’t get any info on if they ever let them fly but they are restraint to a tiny pease of wire on the ground. It so bad and I have no idea about animal rights in Czech nor if there is anything to be done but I’d love to have som input!

thank you for caring and posting this for answers! I live in the US so unsure of what organizations there you can contact. When there are unethical exhibits similar to that one here in the US, it is so hard to have law enforcement involved. maybe a local wildlife rehabilitator that have sources on hand to get in touch with the right authorities. i wouldn’t even hesitate on possible animal control.

It looks like a falconer’s birds. The falconers I’ve met take very good care of their birds, even taking them home to bond. They are well fed and they do fly. I’ve spent time with these birds and they are very healthy and loved. I don’t know if this is the case at the location pictured. I hope so. Hope this helps ease your mind.

Thank you. Sadly I think it’s not a falconers bird, there were about 7, each a different species and also an owl.. also there are monkey cages at that place that keep baboons in solitary enclosure :/

That’s so sad and awful. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do more than offer emotional support to you.

This is r/animalrights not r/animalwelfare. They shouldn't be anyone's birds, they should be wild and free and untrained.

Hey was just trying to offer comfort. Humans are animals after all and this person needed some comfort.

OP wanted solutions not comfort. An end to the problem not half arsed excuses.

We can take comfort in their freedom from human induced slavery on their species.

I see why this sub has so little engagement. This is what drives people away from the animal rights movement. You’re actually hurting animals by being so unkind to people.

Sorry did you just blame ME for YOUR decisions and irrationality because I hurt your feelings? And I mean irrationality. Who the fuck thinks it's ok to continue being cruel to animals and close minded about solutions because someone didn't treat you with politeness?

If I actually was kind to you, would you go vegan and actually care about animals properly and by properly, I mean real respect for their bodies and autonomy? Would you put aside your ego and say "you're right and you've even been so polite about it and there's nothing I can argue about except your tone, which is already prefect and caters to my feelings and expectations and I will start doing the right thing here and now"

Okay you sound so angry. I hope you find some happiness.

Frustrated at pathetic excuses, lies and inconsistencies would be more accurate.

If someone not sugar-coating their words and not offering hollow platitudes is enough to drive people away from the animal rights movement then they mustn't have given two shits originally.

OP can ask grandparents for point of direction? They live there after all. I know there are differences between generations but law is law.
