Meh, it depends where you work and your position, I guess. Maybe that was a manager or a director, who knows ?!
I had something similar when I left a pretty low-level management position at a big hospital that I worked for barely under a year..

Its a discount store that feels like a gross thrift store. Everything is disorganized and chaotic. Long racks of clothing which people drop on the dirty floor. Sometims people are doing drugs out front.

I have been to Ross exactly three times in my life, in three different cities. Billings, Montana, Loveland, Colorado, and Little Rock, Arkansas. Each one was exactly as you described. One of those stores that you feel the need to shower after you leave

if someone gave me this cake or any cake instead of a bonus, they would be wearing it and i would be already in the parking smearing the remainder on their windshield. damn that sounded angry.

Maybe one of those tone deaf record profits celebrations for execs where they all praise themselves at a podium and applaud each other

The irony of spending a lot of money on a custom cake with edible printed fondant, all to look like it is an overstock item sold at a bargain basement retailer.

For like just a sec, I thought this was being sold at Ross and someone was like, hell yea, I'll buy that!

The main tag says “Christmas” on it. This would be a pretty funny cake to bring to a holiday party hosted by the family member who is always giving discount store gifts with the tags still on them.
ETA: tracked down the very talented baker but no context given. :(
