I… kinda like it and I don’t know why

446

u/jameytaco 23d ago

I just like fountains and running water

36

u/TheWayofTheSchwartz 21d ago

Are you a cat?

8

u/reclusivegiraffe 21d ago

You and I are kindred spirits

99

u/gonadi 22d ago

A good use for a broken down truck? Or maybe just the body recovered from a few wrecked trucks? I like it too.

84

u/Treestyles 22d ago

Good roadside advertising. Gets way more attention than a water feature that looks so natural people don’t even notice.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Scar142 6d ago

Doesn't look like a wrecked truck, and it has wheels, which means there's the frame too, so it's all there, hopefully it's a lemon truck because it would be quite a shame to use a perfectly fine truck for that. But it's still pretty cool, maybe not the use I would have in mind for a brand new truck

1

u/icepod 5d ago

Many Cybertrucks will soon be available for this project!

43

u/Maretsb 23d ago

Good sir, may I ask where you're from?

22

u/JackxForge 22d ago

Like it's 100% white trash as fuck, but I'm white and kinda trashy.

17

u/prizzabroy 22d ago

Well, I know where my child is getting baptized.

15

u/notso_surprisereveal 23d ago

Same, but for me it reminds me of dumping dirt/sand from the back of our pickup truck and I have fond memories of working with my dad on big projects around our house

9

u/Funwithfun14 22d ago

Same...and I can be a bit old fashioned...kinda snobby.

🎶Sweet home Alabama, where exhaust water is so blue🎶

🎶🪕Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I’m truckin’ home to you🪕🎶

3

u/ussrname1312 21d ago

It could be nice for a landscaping company or something lol

3

u/tsimen 21d ago

It's unashamedly redneck. Like a NASCAR camp or a juggalo festival, these places have a certain magic to them.

3

u/--SharkBoy-- 21d ago

Its creative and original

-2

u/BenjiSBRK 22d ago

So do I. I think it has to do with a truck not being on the road.

470

u/dethb0y 23d ago

I actually really like that, it's awesome looking.

14

u/Stag_GT 23d ago

I read that as mildly bad rivers and got really excited for a sub about mediocre waterways...

I love you, Alabama. You’re a trash heap, but dammit, I love yah for it.

50

u/brandonandtheboyds 22d ago

As someone who lived there for 8 years, you see a lot in Alabama. Some good. Some bad. And some weird shit like this. And when you see weird shit like this, all you can really say is “Hell yeh, brother”. I love it.

2

u/StarvinArtin 21d ago

Yeah Cullman is a weird place, odd history too...

1

u/_Alabama_Man 21d ago

Georgia Man, is that you?

2

u/SimpleHumanoid 21d ago

Raised in the trash heaps of Phenix City, baby!

1

u/ConflictSudden 17d ago

I was always confused about the lack of an "o" in Phenix City. Do you know the reason for the spelling?

2

u/SimpleHumanoid 16d ago

We’re not really known for literacy.

72

u/twoaspensimages 23d ago

It's a beaut Clark!

49

u/LanguageAccurate9927 23d ago

lol I pass by it every day I think it’s cool

45

u/_bat_girl_ 23d ago

Cullman is getting famous for way worse things lately, from what I'm hearing

I always go by "just because it didn't/hasn't happened to me doesn't mean it doesn't happen" - especially in a sundown town, as a white person, why would I be experiencing racism there, and who am I to tell people of color that they're safe there

27

u/kiitsunecore 22d ago

yes this is exactly how i feel. i refuse to step foot in cullman because of how dangerous it is for people of color. my wife and i really wanted to go to the christmas market, but once we found out where it was it was totally off the table. not only are we gay, but my wife is black and i would never ever want to put them somewhere i know would be unsafe for them. we were talking about it and they said “well, we COULD go, but i would only feel safe if your family was there too”. i was instantly like “nope not happening”

9

u/OriginalLu 22d ago

Yeah I had the same experience while there, a kind of “whoa”. Especially the “chocolate guns” being sold at the market. Which come to think of it I should probably post here as well.

3

u/Factor_Seven 21d ago

I live in Cullman. I'm middle aged, straight, white, and optionally armed. If y'all want to go I'll walk with you.

Cullman had a LGBTQ festival last year. Went there with my son (gay). For all the talk, there was no trouble. Just a couple of rednecks standing in the parking lot trying to work up enough courage to protest. They gave up and left.

2

u/kiitsunecore 21d ago

thats really sweet actually. we probably just wont go, but i really appreciate the offer. youre a kind soul

13

u/brandonandtheboyds 22d ago

I, an Afro-Latino who was living/working across Alabama at the time, was headed from a nearby town to Cullman. The white man I was talking to said “Well, shoot. That place kinda like Deliverance. Best get out before the Sun goes down.” I needed no further warning. What am I gunna do? Take that risk? 🤷🏾‍♂️

8

u/_bat_girl_ 22d ago

Exactly and everyone aughta know, avoid it and don't spend a dime there! Especially now that I'm seeing people on tiktok promote it as a Hallmark Movie Christmas town. I'll never spend money in a sundown town!

Stay Classy, Cullman!

33

u/OutrageousRhubarb853 23d ago

I wonder how many guys have proposed to their sister at that spot.

8

u/_Alabama_Man 21d ago

Probably none, this isn't in Mississippi.

2

u/ladyoflothlorien36 12d ago

🥂 cheers to that reply. Happy New Year!

23

u/redditcreditcardz 23d ago

They spent all that time wondering if they could. Never bothering to ask if they should

23

u/im-buster 23d ago

I thought it was a wreck at first, then no it IS a fountain.

13

u/Dew4yne 23d ago

Nature is healing

12

u/WickedWarlock333 23d ago

This kind of kicks ass!

8

u/i_swear_too_muchffs 23d ago

I’ve seen this more than once at various dealerships or other super classy establishments along the I-95

7

u/Complete_Chain_4634 23d ago

I feel like this is an affront to Mother Nature. Well executed but a complete abomination.

6

u/11Booty_Warrior 23d ago

“My wife’s boyfriend broke my jaw with a fence post, and a bouncer in Birmingham hit me in the face with a crescent wrench five times”

1

u/OriginalLu 23d ago

Assuming they have bouncers, and don’t just casually let you drink with a piece on your hip.

6

u/_paaronormal 22d ago

That good ol Sundown Town ingenuity

6

u/Epena501 23d ago

Tacky AF

4

u/idekwhataaaah 23d ago

Before I read the description I thought this was an image of the aftermath of extreme weather. A truck basking on rocks like a lizard with a sheet of clear water falling from the back is odd, but much more fun

4

u/TractorBee 23d ago

Salvage title?

4

u/SyrusDrake 23d ago

This is so dumb, I love it!

3

u/Drunk-DrivingFanatic 22d ago

Nah fuck it, GTAGE

3

u/X4nd0R 22d ago

So a very redneck uncle of mine wanted to make a hot tub for his wife (they were newly weds).

He took a giant plastic tarp and lined the bed of his pickup truck with it. Backed it up to a waterfall on the property until it was full. Then he let it sit in the sun for hours until the water was warmed up.

3

u/comtombstoner 22d ago

When they 1st put it in i was stopped at the light right before and was wondering how the truck had infite water then i realized it was fountain. People leave the interstate to come look at it now.

2

u/leeonie 23d ago

I can guarantee that a few beers were involved in the conceptual design process

2

u/Ok_Quail9973 22d ago

I… fuck with it

2

u/Tutthole 22d ago

I love truck fountain

2

u/kuhjuh 22d ago

I like it! Haha

CULLMAN MENTIONED

WTF IS A FUNCTIONAL HOSPITAL RAHHHH

2

u/kurtsdead6794 22d ago

My buddies dad was a doctor in Cullman. That place is…interesting. Nothing but good memories.

2

u/JCarterPeanutFarmer 22d ago

Honestly this fucks

2

u/Minimum_Zucchini1572 22d ago

😂 I passed that a couple of weeks ago on my way to Christmas market!

2

u/thepetoctopus 22d ago

It’s different but kind of cool. A good use of an unusable vehicle and good advertising. Like if I were shopping for whatever they’re selling they would definitely get my attention.

2

u/ick-vicky 22d ago

It’s got charm to it tbh

2

u/send_them_nips 22d ago

That's actually really cool. Lol

2

u/Emergency_Property_2 22d ago

That’s pretty cool actaully!

2

u/doob22 22d ago

Not really bad taste imo. Good marketing

2

u/PolishedLemon 22d ago

Now THAT'S how you American

2

u/Cheesefinger69 22d ago

Nah I dig this

2

u/ametrallar 21d ago

After spending some time in Alabama this makes perfect sense

2

u/frenchtoastwizard 21d ago

Specifically I've spent time in Cullman lol

2

u/Inner-Opposite-3492 15d ago

Is this an homage to those defeated by the boat ramp?

That sucks. They can be a real pain to start when they’re flooded.

1

u/NewHampshireAngle 22d ago

Don’t want to try that with a Cyberfleeced.

1

u/shootdawoop 22d ago

this is such impressively poor taste that I can't help but think they're pulling it off, this shouldn't exist yet it's oddly alluring, likely some galactic cognito hazard

1

u/Epitoaster 22d ago

Honk beep, beep beep honk beep

1

u/wabbott82 22d ago

Roll tide!

1

u/[deleted] 22d ago

As a black woman, I chuckle to myself a little whenever I hear about Cullman doing stupid shit now lol. Seems a very "attention seeking" kind of place.

1

u/bodhiseppuku 22d ago

I've seen a few weird uses for vehicles, that I assume are a way to use a damaged vehicle that is expensive to repair.

I wonder if this truck had a blown engine, or transmission. The business owner puts this up as an advertisement and claims the cost of a "newer-working-vehicle" as a tax discount.

I know a high ranking firefighter, he has used several junk family cars for fire training... similarly, paid a bit more than these vehicles were worth (gonna burn 'em up anyway).

1

u/Tbplayer59 22d ago

Hey, Bubba, you know how you've been wanting to put in a fountain in front of the building? I've got an idea... Now, hear me out....

1

u/ScreeminGreen 22d ago

When life gives you a lemon, make a lemon fountain?

1

u/HidingPancakes 22d ago

I hate how much i actually love it.

Or i love hating it.

These are confusing feelings i’m having.

1

u/TheDawn323 22d ago

God damnit I fucking hate to love America

1

u/NickWildeSimp1 22d ago

I thought this was r/CantParkThereMate for a sec

1

Georgia has something similar too… or it was a drunk driver. Either way, great Christmas decoration!

1

u/spenwallce 21d ago

That’s hilarious. I love it

1

u/KingoftheKeeshonds 21d ago

Always classy Alabama.

1

u/j4nus006 21d ago

That is majestic AF

1

u/audeus 21d ago

I've thought it before, but I'm gonna say it now. This is the epitome of ATBGE

1

u/victorian_vigilante 21d ago

Spectacularly tacky, yet kinda impressive. Well done!

1

u/saltyourhash 21d ago

I thought this was a car accident

1

u/Ted-Chips 21d ago

I'd yeehaw myself to sleep beside that.

1

u/OlDerpy 21d ago

Lmao this is amazing. Perfect fit for this sub lol

1

u/The_Radio_Host 21d ago

If it’s in a place called “Peak” you’ve gotta love it

1

u/adin49 19d ago

the image is so compressed, it looks like it's ai generated when you zoom in

2

u/OriginalLu 19d ago

Nah it’s just a crap photo, I was riding shotgun and we were making the turn at that moment so I only had a few seconds to tole down the window and take a pic with my beat up iPhone 12.

1

u/A-6_Intr-uwu-der 17d ago

Only in the US I would imagine seeing something like this

1

u/Spare_Honey7658 17d ago

Very alabamaian of you

1

u/OriginalLu 17d ago

Funny enough I’m not from Alabama, I was down there with family and we were checking out Cullman’s Christmas Market

1

u/OriginalLu 14d ago

Hahaha yeahhhh I’m not sure I’ll be going back. Great Christmas Market though

1

u/DougieDimmadomeSr 13d ago

1

u/RichardCranium2010 13d ago

Holy shit.. imagine having the budget to accomplish this for shits and giggles? Lol

1

u/OriginalLu 13d ago

Well, from what I could see, it looked like it was advertising a local bank.

1

u/PrideSamael31 13d ago

It's good

1

u/IDealzTheSealz 12d ago

yk what i like this one

1

u/Viperjosephine 12d ago

Idk honestly if this was for a dealership or something I think it’s kinda cool and smart

1

u/VulpineVoltage 5d ago

Honestly, this is the kinda thing i could see at a used car lot... its not bad...

1

u/coko4209 2d ago

Cullman, AL is a real scary place. Do not go to the Cracker Barrel at 6:00 on Friday evening, if you are black. As a matter of fact, don’t be outside in this place after dark at all if you’re black.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

4

The pic is enough. You’re not missing out by not visiting cullman.

0

u/evilfollowingmb 22d ago

Yes, because that is where waterfalls originate from...truck beds.

-6

u/Ambitious-Regular-57 22d ago

Does this look like an AI image to anyone else? Maybe it's the image compression.

From the comments sounds like it's a real place. Just an observation

2

u/Trainzguy2472 22d ago

A lot of phones offer some sort of AI photo sharpener these days. It's terrible.
